The Cuisinart Toaster is one of the best products in the market that will enable one to make the best snacks at the comfort of their home. With the beautiful brushed stainless steel housing, the toaster is designed to look very sleek and has additional features that make it stand out from the crowd. The toaster enables the owner to have custom controls for defrost features, the ability to toast bread, pastries and bagels – four at a go for you and a friend (Cuisinart, 2010).

Figure 1 : CP-180 Toaster Buttons

The toaster provides four slots where the user can insert whatever they need toasted. The buttons above the knobs on the left provide for dual control panels allowing for custom settings for each side of the toasted item. The knobs in the middle give the user the ability to lift smaller items to the top. The bottom knob on the right gives the browning control for items being toasted to provide custom browning settings. The buttons above the knob give the bagel, reheat, defrost and cancel buttons respectively.

Use and Care

For the purpose of toasting normal bread, check that there is nothing on the toaster slots. Plug the power cable into the power outlet and insert the slices of bread. Ensure that the carriage is in the up position and that slices do not overlap.

Set the browning control, where 1-2 represents light brown, 3-4 presents medium brown and 5-6 presents dark brown. For extra dry bread, use a lower browning setting than you normally would.

Figure 2 : Your browning setting will normally determine the quality of toast you get.

For frozen items, the procedure is slightly different:

Insert the slices of bread and ensure that there is no overlapping of slices in the slots.

Set the browning control. For refrigerated items or slightly thinner materials such as pancakes, set it at 1-2. For frozen waffles and pastries, thin French toast and bagels, set it at 3-4. For thicker frozen items such as hand-cut bread, bagels and French toast, set it at 5-6.

Press the Carriage control until it is locked in position.

Press the defrost button. A red LED indicator will come on to show that the process is ongoing.

To stop the defrost cycle, one can simply press the cancel button any time before the defrost is completed. After use, one can unplug the toaster from the power outlet.

Cautions

For cleaning and maintenance, always ensure that the toaster is unplugged.

Do not use abrasive cleaners. Instead, use clean damp cloths and dry thoroughly. One could apply the cleaning agent to the cloth rather than the toaster during cleaning.

Do not wrap the power cord around the outside of the toaster during storage; use the storage area on the underside of the toaster for this.

To remove any bread remaining within the toaster, gently turn upside down and shake off pieces. Do not use sharp instruments to remove particles within the toaster as this could damage the toaster and pose a safety hazard to the user.

Do not operate the toaster without the crumb tray in place. If removed for maintenance, remove, wipe and replace the crumb tray.

Servicing should be done by an authorized representative.
