In the French Quarter of New Orleans, between the intersections of Iberville and Royal Streets, the Hotel Monteleone is a structure that one cannot miss due to its imposing nature. Well-dressed doormen stand confident and true at the main entrance, similar to the way their predecessors stood there in the 19th century.
The expansive windows to the left of the main entrance beam bright yellow lights to the pedestrians who are walking past the hotel. Those lights are being reflected from the Carousel Bar & Lounge in the hotel’s main lobby; the bar has a floor that has been rotating since it commenced operations in 1950 ( Brainley, 2011) . Indeed, the bar has a motto that states: “We’ve been turning for six decades.”

Whereas the Hotel Monteleone radiates timeless elegance and luxury, the building has a curious past and is in fact believed to be one of the most haunted hotels in the city. For many generations, the guests of the establishment have recorded seeing ghosts or experiencing weird things in their duration of stay. And it seems logical, right? Hotel Monteleone has existed for over a century, and with hundreds of guestrooms, the number of individuals visiting the hotel is significantly high. As such, it would be even weird of an establishment of this age did not have any ghosts that are still hovering around.
Due to these mysterious past and first-hand stories, I have heard about the hotel over the years, my friends and I decided to explore the establishment to find out if this was actually true. It was a chilling and sobering experience.
In the summer of last year, our group, Paranormal Seekers, went into the Hotel Monteleone to conduct an investigation. We had previously heard of the establishment’s claims of paranormal acts and I had a keen interest in finding out just how haunted the hotel is in reality. It turns out that Hotel Monteleone is very haunted.
