Currently, scientists are researching on understanding the aging process of human being and the possibilities of extending life. Scientist David Sinclair has studied the science of life in various disciplines. On the first experiment, he used a molecule from the red wine that has been considered to be healthful. When testing with flies, the molecule extended the life of flies by 30 to 60 percent. Also, David evidenced that resveratrol was able to reduce the aging disease in the mouse. As result of this knowledge, various scientists are working on the research to come up will pills that may extend the life of human being. However, scientists from the previous studies have argued that aging is a continuous process and its state is an inevitable end. Scientist David Sinclair collected data from some aged individuals to perform a human actuarial table analysis. Sinclair suggested that the maximum lifespan of a human being is about 120 years. Thus, the pills can only allow human beings to live longer and healthier to the maximum of their lifespan.

On the other hand, the type of food that people take largely affects their life span. Scientists have suggested that it is important to find an ideal food balance. An average of 2000 calories is enough per day. Though calories restriction involves much less sometimes, it can turn to be unhealthy due inadequate nutrition in the body. People are different. Thus, it may affect others differently. The personal doctor will help in maintaining and balancing the diet. Sinclair statistics found that women will tend to live longer than men due to the hormonal and genes differences. Sirtuins genes which are found in everything including yeast and human have been used in researching why people age and how to live longer and healthier. It was found that when food is scarce in the body, sirtuins genes particularly SIRT1 in mammals and SIR2 in yeast guards the body. They help in DNA repair and delaying the body cells death. The study showed that when SIRT1 is injected to mice, it reduces the diseases associated with aging such as cancer and diabetes. On the other hand, when SIR2 it added to the yeast, it increased 50 percent longevity. Scientist Rima Chaddha has tried to find out how longevity in yeast works and its impacts to the human life span. Firstly, cell’s chromosomes appear in the yeast cell (“daughter”) which split off from the original cell (“mother”). Under normal conditions, the longevity of the yeast is few days after producing an average of 20 offspring. However, by the time yeast cells dies, it produces more than a hundred quintillion descendants. After replication of the chromosomes, “the daughter” cell and produce another daughter. The daughters are identical and take the DNA of the mother. After 20 divisions, the yeast approaches the death and ERC take more of the resources such that the mother cell can no longer replicate, then it dies. At this point, the activated yeast, SIR2 only shows minor signs of aging. Then, it continues to replicate ten or more divisions including ERCs which causes her death.

What are the implications of this to human factor?

According to David Sinclair, the longevity genes will soon change the medical research course as they seek to understand how these genes are relating to diseases and aging of a human. Thus, if it will turn out that these genes control human lifespan and health, they might be able to make pills. The pills will be helpful in living into the 90s and beyond healthy.
