A diverse and multicultural early childhood education is an approach where learning of appropriate attitudes, knowledge, and skills is done while appreciating and respecting the diverse cultures and differences in society. The objective of diverse and multicultural education is to ensure that learners acquire knowledge and also commitments that they need for them to reflect on decisions and take social, civic, and personal actions that will promote democratic living (Ramsey, 2004). The objective of an anti-bias curriculum is to approach early childhood education in a manner that creates values-based methodology and principles. The reason for that is to encourage children to respect and embrace differences and discourage them from being bias and unfair.

An example of a biased education that I have witnessed is when a young girl said to an African American child that she could not be a princess since a princess should have blond hair. This shows stereotyping which is due to biased education. A diverse and multicultural early childhood education is practical and it inculcates a character in children at an early age to respectfully appreciate other people despite the many differences in race, gender, disabilities, religion, or other diversities.
