Introduction

Driving is currently the most prevalent mode of transport globally. From an individual aspect, driving is a necessity for some as a means of generating income. On the other hand, driving is used by many to carry out their daily activities. Regardless of the use of driving, one factor remains the same throughout, and that is safety. For this reason, all adult drivers are required to maintain a level of safety on the road as the activity has a lot of dynamic factors. The act of learning how to drive a car is not difficult, but the query comes when identifying the best means of learning how to drive. Many go via the conventional method of applying to a driving school were others prefer learning from experienced drivers. This paper will identify the best method of learning how to drive while maintaining safety on the roads.

Argument

Driving as an act instills confidence in many but with confidence, safety is a necessity as it protects other drivers as well as pedestrians. Nonetheless, driving schools offer better and more professional learning environments as compared to learning from other drivers. Moreover, new drivers are exposed to all the safety requirements and skills needed to be a professional and cautious driver. This means that new drivers can learn all the signs and their meanings as they transverse inpublic as well as private roads.

The road is cluttered with road signs that are used to regulate how drivers use them. They range from road signs, road lights and road markings (Miller, 2017) . Lack of comprehension of these vital tools can result in the accidents whose severity can vary depending on the nature of the road rule violation. The National Transportation Safety Board identified that lack of adhering to speed limits has contributed to over 30% f road crash-related deaths between 2012 and 2016 (Miller, 2017) .

Though driving schools provide the needed environment to train new drivers, they lack the essence of experience. Learning from other drivers exposes new drivers to the actual nature of the roads and how rules are applied. The veteran drivers not only teach road signs and safety measures but also provide extra information on car dynamics and others.

According to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), many people opt for learning how to drive from other experienced drivers for various reasons (Department of Motor Vehicles, 2018) . The first is that it is cheaper and can do not have any particular schedule. The second is that new drivers are taught what they need according to the experienced drivers. Finally, it is cheaper than enrolling to a driving school (Department of Motor Vehicles, 2018) .

The previous statement identifies that learning from other drivers as being more convenient and cheaper, however, many fail to consider how the human mind is prone to forgetting. Many drivers on the roads today do not have the adequate knowledge on the meaning of road signs as well as driving regulations thus not only endangering their lives but also that of other road users. Different roads have different rules and regulations that govern their usage, in spite of this many fail to adhere to them resulting in accidents and some cases fatalities.

Conclusion

This paper has demonstrated that learning from veteran drivers is very dangerous. With the majority of drivers lacking some vital information on road regulations, they are poor teachers for new drivers. New drivers should enroll in registered and well-managed driving schools whereby they will be exposed to information that is not only accurate but fully detailed and available for reference. Driving schools may not offer experience on the various roads across the country, but they provide the needed information that can be used by the new driver to gain the needed confidence while driving.
