A child especially a young baby shares a lot of things with the mother and many things that affect the mother mostly affect the newborn. A mother is very close to a newborn baby because the mother takes care of the infant and through breastfeeding a mother can transfer a disease to a child. Also if a mother is sick mostly the child gets sick because of the much close conduct they have towards each other. In this case study a woman delivers a healthy baby before starting a new job at a small manufacturing plant and within a few months after she starts working her infant appears sickly and gets hospitalized. When the woman discusses her newborn's condition with her co-workers, she finds the same similarity to events that led up to the illness of another female colleague's child illness. The similarity between the two women infants illness shows that there is a high chance that their baby's sickness was by their new jobs. Since it is a manufacturing plant and the workers directly gets into conduct with chemicals which are exhausted, and this may lead to an effect on their children.

The connection between the mother's new job and her child's illness can be determined through several; ways; first a mother is a person who gives a child life and love. Thus she is the most important person in a child’s life. Children need their mothers especially during infancy as mothers can satisfy their children through the love (Milne, 1986). Thus a mother’s job can cause problem and sickness to a child since most of the time the mother spends working and far away from the child thus becoming difficult for her to care for the child making the child sick due to lack of motherly love and attention. A mother new job and a child illness connectivity may also be determined if there are several similar occurrences of the same illness to children in the same industry as this shows that the work environment may be affecting the mother and thus the child. For example in this manufacturing plant, there may be chemicals which are harmful and the young mothers may be weak and not strong enough to resist the effects of the chemicals and this is transferred to their infants causing illness. Safety and health measures should be taken to ensure that the workers are safe and they are not induced to any danger while working which may lead to the breastfeeding mothers to transfer the disease to their infants (Hoffman, 2001).

The factors to be addressed to show that there is a connection between the infant illness and the mother's new job is that there is a similar occurrence of the same event by another co-worker thus it is most likely that the work is affecting the young mothers thus their children. If taken to court the woman may not have a case, and this is because a similar event has occurred in the organization and this may show that the working environment is not safe for breastfeeding mothers. The chemicals may be dangerous to their infants who are still younger, and their immune systems are not strong thus the cause of the illness. Working is healthy, and women need to work as they have their careers, and breastfeeding mothers are not exception thus to avoid children being affected by their mother's new job women should take care of their infants until they stop breastfeeding o look for jobs which will not cause detrimental effects to their newborns. For instance, women should avoid getting into conduct with chemicals when breastfeeding as this may affect their infant’s health as is their immune systems are not strong.
