A study that I would design in psychology would relate to emotions and motivation. Emotion is the conscious and particular experience that involves biological reactions, mental states, or psychosomatic reactions. The main emotions are happiness, love, anger, fear, and sadness. Motivation is the force that pushes an individual to perform a given task or elicit a certain behavior. Emotion and motivation share some similarities according to many psychologists. Some of the similarities are both lead to the portrayal of a certain behavior, emotion is usually accompanied by a motive, and some emotions can act as motivation to individuals.
The topic that I would select would be a study on the relationship between emotion and motivation. Most psychologists have argued that emotions are tied to motivation. However, emotions do not lead to motivation always since some emotions are a result of feelings, mood, or arousal. Some emotions such as happiness, or anger can cause motivation for people to carry out activities such as working hard or revenge respectively. Emotions such as fear cause the autonomic nervous system to release adrenaline which causes the effect of fight or flight. This can be classified as a biological relationship between emotion and motivation.

Apart from emotion, there are other psychological motivators. These include the need for association, need for authorization and the need for success. Sometimes, these factors work independently while in some cases, they are supplemented by emotion.
This study would seek to explain the effects of different emotions on the behavior of human beings. By subjecting different people to agents that cause particular emotions, their behavior would be observed and the extent recorded. Comparison will also be done using subjects from different backgrounds to determine if the previous environment affects how emotions lead to certain motivations. By comparing the results, a satisfactory conclusion showing the relationship between emotion and motivation can be deduced.
