The Employment Discrimination Initiative prohibits managers to discriminate individuals when making decisions in regard to firing, hiring, compensation, and other employment benefits because of their sex, race, color, religion and national origin. The focus of the United States on this Initiative is meant to achieve equality among all citizens without fear of prejudice and discrimination. The U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission works on pointing out barriers, issues, and criteria which contribute to color and race discrimination. Also, the Commission pinpoints strategies which can help improve the claims of litigation of color and race discrimination and improve awareness of color and race discrimination in employment. This paper focuses on the impact of employment discrimination initiative on the current and future public policies. It also points out the effects of the initiative on the average American citizen.

Employment Discrimination Initiative has an impact on the existing and future policies related to employment. Existing policies which have discriminated individuals due to their difference in color, sex, origin, and religion are likely to be amended by the government to help accommodate all individuals equally. The employment discrimination initiative emphasizes on the need for equality among all people, and thus the government is likely to look into the existing policies to ascertain that they are in line with the current trend on discrimination ( Lewis, 2018) . In addition, people have learned their rights and are therefore aware of the changing initiatives. They are therefore likely to push for a change in public policies to ensure that they fulfil the equality need. It is also expected that new policies will arise to help resolve the employment discrimination problem. Due to the high number of complaints in relation to discrimination in the workplace, employers are likely to develop effective anti-harassment policies to enable comprehensive investigation of complaints on harassment and thus hold the perpetrators accountable ( Lewis, 2018) .

In the future, public policies will have banned workplace discrimination based on an individual’s gender identity and sexual orientation ( Rubery, 2015) . Today, both men and women are equally receiving educational achievement, and they should, therefore, gain employment according to their educational level rather than gender. Consequently, the Employment Discrimination Initiative will help achieve equality in all fields and thus mitigate the discrimination cases not only in employment but also at school and home. In reference to Yılmaz & Göçmen (2016) , the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) advocates for public policy proposals which support a prompt, fair and accessible resolution to cases of harassment at work while still protecting confidentiality.

These initiatives and policies have affected the average American citizens in several ways. First, the initiative promotes interaction of individuals of different groups which will help minimize stereotypes (Yılmaz & Göçmen, 2016) . As a result, there will be a decrease in cases of discrimination. This equality will help maintain good relations and thus peace among the American citizens. The members of the public will freely interact with each other and wars related to racial differences will decrease immensely. Additionally, the initiative will help reduce wage differences and unemployment rates between different individuals and groups ( Yılmaz & Göçmen, 2016) . The initiative will ultimately equalize the employment rates for minority groups and women with respect to the whites. As a result, the average American citizen will get a fairly paying job without discrimination due to the difference in color, sex, national origin, and religion. The average American citizen, therefore, enjoys the benefits resulted from the initiatives and policies.

Nonetheless, there has been an increased rate of immigration into the United States due to the friendly initiatives and policies laid out. More foreigners are looking for ways to acquire U.S citizenship and therefore an increase in the population in the State. The population increases competition in the job market which makes residents feel threatened by the foreigners ( Lewis, 2018) . The average American citizen is therefore negatively affected since they have to scramble for jobs due to the rising demand for employment. The residents might end up treating foreigners with discrimination due to the results they bring forth. In addition, the rising population due to immigrants also affects the provision of social services. With an increasing population, there is a delay of social services which implies that an average American has to cope with the high society in the areas.

The government of the United States has been working towards eliminating employment discrimination claims to help come up with an all-around community which does not discriminate their fellow citizen based on any given difference. Therefore, initiatives and policies have been set aside and are making progress towards achievements. The employment discrimination initiative is one of the most famous civil rights initiatives which focuses on the prohibition of discrimination of persons because of race, national origin, gender, and religious differences. The initiative has played a part in the amendment of other policies which had racial discrimination claims and will also lead to the introduction of policies which embrace differences. The policies and initiatives are beneficial to the average American citizen as it helps equalize employment rates and also leads to a peaceful nation. Conversely, an increase in competition in employment and social services is a disadvantage to the average American citizen.
