How Social Media Is Transforming Identity

There is a connection between a person's identity and social media. Social media plays a significant role in influencing how people live their lives. The social media act as a platform where individuals reveal their own living experiences. Also, social media reveals different dimensions based on their status in the virtual and physical life. These two reasons make people assume various social media ( Adler & Proctor II, 2017) . Some of the characters that an individual can assume are the characters of a doctor, journalist, a leader, and a comedian. Concerning the doctor, he/she will use social media to post medical-related issues so that he can help people improve their lifestyle and enhance their brand. On the journalist, he/she will capitalize on his social media platform to post the latest news and strengthen his brand. Regarding the leader, the leader utilizes his platform to advise the people on how best they can lead their life and increase their publicity to his minions. A comedian uses social media to post his creative work to ensure that their followers are entertained and grow their following. The critical thing with social media is that it promotes a symbiotic relationship. The media always gain a huge following, and the person followed, his popularity always increases. Nevertheless, social media aids the people to present themselves in a way that they would desire to be perceived. Social enables a person to learn a new culture from their colleagues. 

I had two experiences with social media affecting one identity. For your information, I am a musician and a comedian. On one experience, I did open an account on Instagram as Kevin, the Musician, people used to follow me on this platform basically to get my latest recordings. On the other hand, I did open another account on Instagram dubbed Kevin, the Comedian, my followers visited this platform for the sake of catching up with my latest comedy. Countrywide, people knew me as a comedian and a musician.
