Diaz wrote her essay, "Becoming a Writer," describing her experience and her struggles throughout her efforts of writing one of her dream novels. He experienced periods when she felt that she had lost hope and had nothing else to write past page 75. However, she recovered over time, despite the struggles to write a good novel, the most excellent feeling when she was 'done.'

My experience in writing was partly similar to that of Diaz. Similar to Diaz's journey in writing, I experienced periods of hardships, especially when conducting research on larger projects. There were many efforts required to ensure that the projects had a flow, and there was enough content to complete a research paper, without digressing and writing a part that does not go along with the first part. Similarly, at one point in her novel, Diaz did not know what to write. I took her many years and thought to complete the entire novel. Also, similar to Diaz, I had a significantly high level of interest and passion for writing. Writing involved conducting research, which was interesting as it helped me gain new knowledge in diverse fields. It also boosted my creativity as I explored and learned more, some of which were interesting.

However, Diaz's writing experience was significantly different from my experience in writing this term. First, it required Diaz much thinking to ensure that she produces a good piece. However, in my case, research was the most essential aspect t of my writing. The research helped in finding out the best way to develop an excellent write-up. Also, the topics in most cases required research efforts, and possessing excellent research skills was the first step towards coming up with quality writing. Another difference is that Diaz had problems completing her story in the novel. However, my efforts in writing required me to ensure that I had the knowledge necessary to achieve the paper's objective, which is to convey information effectively to the audience. Diaz seems confident with her ability to communicate effectively. However, it took some time to confidently write a paper and be certain that it would convey the intended message to the audience. Unlike Diaz, the writing was not interesting in the beginning, as there was much that I needed to learn to ensure that my write-up was clear and informative. Therefore, my write-up at first was not interesting until, over the course of the term, my interest in gaining more knowledge on research grew significantly, and overtime, my ability to write good papers developed, and my interest grew as well.

My experience this semester has challenged me to think in a new way about writing. It has helped me understand the importance of research in writing concrete papers and assignments while also gaining new knowledge required to meet my targeted grade and also that which is applicable in daily life. Also, my experience helped me realize the importance of psych and dedication to work that I want to achieve the best. When one loves what they do, there is always a significantly high level of self-drive and an attempt to do better despite there being instances of hard times. Also, my experience challenged me to explore different areas and topics on daily life experiences, which I have realized are far more applicable than I thought. Becoming a writer requires more than just knowledge. Interest and passion are vital through the journey of writing.
