As a young woman in college, very soon I will be done with school and will need to send my resume out to different prospects for employment, which is why I chose the topic, embracing diversity, to detail my journey so far and the different people I have had the privilege of interacting, learning, and working with. Born a native American, I have had the chance of traveling to Puerto Rico where I extensively interacted with the local culture. Having been part of the foreign culture, I must say my knowledge of Puerto Ricans significantly advanced. I am now better placed to understand their beliefs, their way of life and why they are so adamant on holding onto their culture. At some point in life, I served as a waitress in a local restaurant. Being a popular restaurant, I had the opportunity of interacting with people from all walks of life, all of whom significantly advanced my knowledge of diversity and how to deal with different people.
I must admit that interacting with people from different level opens up a person to diversity, not just cultural, but also of personalities and attributes, which prepares them for the diversity in the employment sector. Besides cooking and working out, I also like meeting new people and socializing, which forms the basis of my chosen topic. I am thrilled by the fact that each day I get to learn more about a particular group or class of people. The target audience for this topic is the employment sector, more specifically the organizations I would like to work with once I am through with school. This topic is of particular interest to the target audience because it forms a significant part of my resume. Employers are more interested in dealing with employees who are flexible enough to deal with workplace diversity. To better connect with the employer, I would engage them in direct personal talks. This is in the form of job interviews. Additionally, I will put it down in writing in my resume.
