Presenting a zoom-recorded speech to my classmates and later observing my address as an audience has been one of my best experiences. However, speeches recorded over the zoom at times have been received with low credibility by the students, which is the quality of trust people have in your speech. On many occasions, they tend to have little initial credibility just before you unfold your speech, and then higher derived credibility as you deliver the speech and finally, high terminal credibility after you complete your address. Initial credibility is what the audience thinks before the speech, derived credibility is what the audience thinks of you while terminal credibility refers to the impression you leave to your audience after the speech.
Understanding such audience dynamics has helped me to give a more audience-centered speech, which means fully involving both the active and the passive audience, by using both verbal and non-verbal message such as body language , gestures, facial expression and stage movement. Body language involves the use of gestures and facial expressions while delivering speech. Now I know the building blocks of a good speech, such as adopting the correct pace of delivery, which refers how the speaker uses his voice and words to enable your audience to follow through the speech. In the past, I have always felt much confident in delivering a speech to any audience, almost naturally, without reading from any script or having backup notes. At times, this would distort the intended message . Script refers to the working guideline one scribbles to help in speech presentation. On the other hand, intended message is the message a speaker intends to put across.

In one specific instance , I had swapped some words unknowingly, which completely altered the context of my speech, where context refers to the purpose of the speech, while a specific instance is that time you are delivering a speech . As for my attempts, I have been happy with recording speeches off head over zoom, since there are minimal noise disturbances, which are mainly disturbances and distractions, as compared to when delivering a speech in a school hall with dragging chairs, a situation that creates an unconducive environment for the audience to pay attention to your speech. In a speech situation refers to an instance of communication with a speaker, the speech and the audience as a prerequisite, while a speech environment is the topic of the speech.
I feel that I did an excellent job by first gauging the cultural impact of my speech to my audience, as it affects how the audience will interpret the speech together with considering the sender-receiver proxemics , which is the space between the sender and the receiver determines the interpretation of the message. The receiver of the speech is the audience who is targeted by the speech. My outline has served as the foundation and frame of reference for my speech and has supported me to communicate my message to the audience. The message is the bone of contention of the speech while speech’s frame of reference is context or the viewpoint of the speech.
