In the contemporary world, everyone identifies themselves with a specific talent or attribute that makes them unique. In most cases, these traits are inbuilt, but it is only through practice that a person may fully discover their full potential. While growing up, I always had this fascination with numbers. My mom always used to tell me that I liked playing games that involved counting, and numeric manipulation. Before I continue, I believe it is imperative to note that I am of Asian descent, meaning that both my parents are Asian. I know that from this point onwards, people would rely on the stereotype that all Asians are good at mathematics, but that is not the case. This is a talent that one grows with and becomes good at after years of practice.
My passion has always been in the field of mathematics and analysis. I remember this one time when I was still in elementary school, the school announced that we would have a mathematics competition and the best student would be selected to present the school. Despite the fact that I was doing pretty well in school, I still wanted to assure myself that I could surpass my expectations. During the spring break when other students went camping and all sorts of fun activities, I used to stay at home and study for the contest. I was very determined to beat all the other students and as such, nothing was going to derail me from achieving my vision.

All the time I spent studying paid off because, during the test, I scored 100%. I attended that contest which involved 10 schools and I emerged the best. I was still on this trend as a sophomore where I attended the AMC and MCM Mathematics contests. One would think that always posting good grades and being the best at something is a good thing, but it always came with some challenges. First, there was the problem of always wanting to be the best. I was under pressure because I had maintained the best position in the school and a such, coming second in class was not a choice on my side. In addition to this, people used to believe that you could solve any mathematical problem, no matter the level and as such, it was pressure on my side.
To me, mathematics has always and will always be a passion because whenever I work with numbers, I get this fascination that leads me to want more and more of these challenges. In life, I never accept defeat and it is this motto in life that has led me to become the person I am today. While approaching a mathematical problem, I always believe that it is very simple and I will solve it and as such, this drive gets me going. In school, all the teachers knew me because of my prowess in the subject. At some point, some people started calling me a human calculator because I could solve some complex problems with my brain and this fascinated people. I even gained fame in my neighborhood and in the nearby town because of what people considered as a genius in numerical analysis.
Currently, I am majoring in Data Analytics at the University of Rochester where I am still focused on becoming one of the greatest minds in history. I have invested my time to study the works of some of my role models such as Albert Einstein, Pythagoras, Carl Friedrich Gauss, and Isaac Newton. I believe that people have control over the outcome of their future in their own hands and as such, they have the chance to change it through hard work and thorough practice. With motivation, comes a great drive to achieve success and nurture personal talent.
