Introduction

Learning is the systematic process of acquiring knowledge or skills through being taught, reading, experience or observation. Learning is a systematic process that starts from the childhood age; this means the education of an individual begins when the person is still a kid that has not reached the school going age. A parent has the responsibility of providing an excellent learning environment for the kids because a home environment has a considerable impact on the child’s educational development. Several home factors contribute to the proper development of the psychological state of a child; such factors could include; the parental care, the child having enough time to rest and sufficient time to play alone and as well with other kids of his or her age. A well-nourished kid with proper emotional health is likely to perform well in school than the kids that face a lot of domestic inconveniences. A child learns the language that is spoken most of the time by the people around him or her; they learn to name objects, they get to know their names and eventually have to grasp most straightforward ways of talking about things they see.

Several factors influence the learning activities of children; children are expected to learn from school, this is the first society expectation from the children, this is a productive factor that will facilitate their usefulness in their future, and education prepares kids for the future they are headed to. Several factors should be a consideration when dealing with a child’s educational development. some elements are external and mostly deal with socio-economic aspects with the surrounding of the child, such as the cultural values, social features, generation and the peer, the institutions they are learning in and the children willingness to learn also contribute to the extent to which a child gets to learn some basic concepts.

Students Background

Some students come from a poor background a while others come from many wealthy families, some come from families whereby the parents are professionals of various fields and well educated and knowledgeable, while others come from families that parents are illiterate and with limited educational knowledge. The kids from the parents that are knowledgeable tend to get advised earlier by their parents on the best courses to take in their studies and the life choices they have to make, while the group from the illiterate families have to rely on themselves and advisors from school, peers, and counselors for the coming up with some life choices. Since learning is a process that starts from home; a child whose parents are much enlightened is nurtured well while still very youth, such kids prosper easily depending on their natural abilities to learn and apply what they have been taught and learned in school. The affluent neighborhood as well facilitates the child’s educational development; children get motivated when they have role model neighbors and parents; this makes it easy to access information and has better regard for education.

Learning Institution Facilities

The structures and the resources that a learning institution has contributed to the learning of the student, the institutions with good infrastructure produce students that are well informed and competent for the job market ( Pattnaik, 2003). T he availability of the teaching aids and the necessary facilities needed facilitates a student’s better understanding of what has been taught and make it easy for the student to remember and apply the class work into the practical aspects of the study. The need for the sense to feel safe is fundamental to any human being, and therefore the school going kids. A proper learning environment should create a sense of feeling safe to the students, not threats of riots, gang problems, and students fighting. Children from areas with incidences of frequent attacks and invasion have performed poorly about their peers in the environments that are peaceful and free from such threats. When the students are safe and with no suspicions of being bullied and get attacked they get time to concentrate on their studies, they tend to focus more on the chances of being assaulted than they focus on their studies ( Epstein, 1989).

Learning Disabilities

The learning disabilities as well as interfere with the speed and rate by which students’ master information from the various learning environment. A pupil with a problem in hearing or those with visual impairments and other body defects find it not easy to keep up to the pace by which other pupils learn in class ( Pattnaik, 2003). T he memory of the students and their ability to retain the learned information could be interfered with by such body defects such as visual impairment and the general body defects. If the child is not well monitored it interferes with his or her self-esteem, thus lowering the chances of understanding most information from the word go. Language barriers, some students speak some languages such as English or French, but they have not learned the rules or that language, a language barrier could interfere with a student’s ability to understand the concepts expressed, the communication between the learner and the teacher get hindered due to this factor. The student’s ability to read and understand the written word could become a barrier to the proper learning of a student

The art of teaching

The teaching of students gets well determined by the teacher involved. The teachers’ expertise, experience, and personality create confidence in the students getting taught. The art of teaching in a particular teacher, the students who lack confidence in their teacher tend to assume most concepts when they taught due to the lack of trust in their teacher ( Pattnaik,2003). The teacher’s knowledge gets scrutinized by the students, and when the students find out that they do not have the right information, it demotivates their learning spirit. An administration with proper operating procedures and the monitoring system makes it easier to assess the learning of the students and find out the areas that the students did not understand better, such practices instill confidence to the learners and helps them find out better ways they could get taught for the better grasping of the concepts.

The student’s willingness to learn also contributes to the way a student learns in class; this adds to the students’ performance in class. According to Epstein(1989), s tudents who are not motivated to learn find it difficult to grasp the taught concepts. T he technological advancements, such as the use of the internet and other modern methods through which students find information has boosted the learning activities in school and at individual levels. When all these factors are controlled the students find it easy to learn in school and perform well.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a number of factors contribute to the students’ learning process in school. The home environment, the school, the peer, the technology used to teach the students. The students’ interest in the learning process makes it easier to grasp the concepts taught in class and other environments. The learning process primarily begins at home with the kid not having reached the school going age. Parents have a significant contribution on the learning process of their kids, well informed parents seek learning materials for their kids, it makes is easier for the kids to make good choices in the future by identifying their talents and choosing the right careers.
