This presentation focuses on five dimensions of the emotional quotient also known as emotional intelligence. These dimensions include self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. In relation to the above dimensions, some demonstrate my strength as well as weaknesses in manage emotions and relationships. Among my strengths in emotional intelligence is that I understand my emotions and thus, I do not let my feelings to rule over me. With this, I am always confident as I trust my intuitions without letting emotions get out of control. This is self-awareness character that helps me to interact with my colleagues in school and especially I understand how to avoid situations that may make me angry. Second, my emotional strength also lies in the ability to understand the feelings of those around me. With this, I’m able to live in an honest and open way. As a result, I excellently manage relationships and listening to others. This as an aspect of empathy helps me in avoiding judging my fellow students too quickly. For instance, the students who score low marks in continuous assessment tests.
On the other hand, my emotional intelligence weaknesses lie on social relationships with others especially being a team leader has always turned out to be a great challenge. Often, I relate this to a lack of social skills to influence people, especially when managing a large group of audience. With the knowledge of self-awareness as one of my strength in emotional intelligence, I believe that improving on this weakness I need to understand how to effectively use non-verbal communication. It is clear that non-verbal messages often communicate of how one feels and thinks. Also, the best way to improve social skills with my classmate is to learn to see conflict as an opportunity to interact closely.
