Noteworthy, comparing Lion and Mouse from the short story provides a strong basis for establishing a compare and contrast essay. The Lion and the Mouse both demonstrate similarities in their kindness and helpfulness to one another, despite displaying differences in optimism. Fable one details two characters; a Mouse and Lion, where the latter spares the life of the former only for the Mouse to free the Lion afterward from the human net trap. Fable two details how a Crane saved the life of a Wolfe that later turned to be ungrateful and refused to honor its reward. The two stories demonstrate how helping others may then save our lives and how some people can be ungrateful in life.

Remarkably, both fables demonstrate acts of kindness, helpfulness, and the aspect of being sympathetic. The Lion was kind to the Mouse and spared its life. The Mouse was kind to the Lion by freeing it from the trap while the Crane was kind enough to help pull out the born from the throat of the Wolf. The Mouse was helpful to the Lion by gnawing the rope to the net that had trapped him. The Crane, on the other hand, was helpful to the Wolf by pulling out the born that had stuck crosswise in his throat. The Lion was sympathetic to the Mouse and spared its life, whereas the Crane was also compassionate towards the Wolf that was chocking with a bone in his neck. Overall, characters in both fables display some good virtues apart from the Wolf that failed to keep its word.

The difference between fable one and fable two is that it demonstrates kindness, helpfulness, and pessimism. The Lion was Kind to the Mouse by sparing its life. The Mouse was also helpful towards the Lion by freeing it from the net trap set by humans. The fable also highlights pessimism as the Lion does not envision a scenario where the Mouse could be of help to him, but the Mouse is optimistic that such a day would come. Overall, fable one highlights the good virtues that people ought to have in life.

Fable two demonstrates differences from story one in that it proves treachery, betrayal, and wickedness. The Wolf tricks the Crane that it would give a reward if assisted in getting rid of the choking bone, but as soon as the Crane provides help, the Wolf walks away without giving the reward. The Wolf betrayed the Crane by reneging on its promise to provide a reward to whoever assists him get rid of the chocking bone in his throat. The Wolf is also wicked for indicating that not snapping the neck of the Crane was a reward enough. Overall, the Wolf demonstrates its wickedness despite being helped from a life-threatening situation.

This paper provides a compare and contrast essay between characters in two fables. The similarities between the two fables are that they both demonstrate kindness, helpfulness, and sympathy, and also wickedness and betrayal. The first fable shows how the Lion and the Mouse show compassion and help each other out of problems. The second fable demonstrates how the Wolf was wicked and betrayed the Crane after being helped. Ideally, I have learned from the two stories that good deeds payback and that the wicked are not grateful for acts of kindness.
