Human growth and development is the process by which human beings develop physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral growth and which the process takes a long time to undergo (De Onis, 2017). Human growth and development is the study of the psychology of how infants mature to human beings (De Onis, 2017). Human growth occurs at different stages which are physical development, intellectual development, emotional development and social development. 

Physical development of a human is the growth of the physical nature and structure of human beings. Growth in human beings’ changes affects the height, weight and the size of human beings (Cotter, Fisk and Grissett, 2016). Development of human beings occurs when the infant can complete task skillfully and with ease as they have taken control of their physique nature. A physical change occurs in a sequence as an infant time continues to pass. Physical development occurs in the muscles of human beings which enable them to perform a task that requires strength.

Intellectual development of human beings is the nature of how an infants brain grows and develops to help them process information for learning purposes (Cotter, Fisk and Grissett, 2016). Growth and development of the cognitive nature of human beings that help in thinking, creating and building social relationships. Intellectual development plays an essential role in how infants ability to learn the language of the human beings’ environment. 

The emotional development of human beings is how infants grow and how they process the feelings they encounter in the daily activities (De Onis, 2017). Feelings to circumnavigate around situations they face, experiences and people. Growth enables infants to understand their feelings and how they can react to the feelings affecting them. Emotions which are favorable to an individual attract happiness while emotions which are contrary to an individual draws melancholy. 

Social development is how the infant grows and develops relationships and how they act and maintain the bonds (Cotter, Fisk and Grissettt, 2016). Social development enables human beings to develop social behaviors that are acceptable to the society. 

From the above illustrations, we get to learn and understand how human growth and development plays a critical role in the growth of an infant into a mature human being.
