Table 1: Playlist for Kacey Musgraves’ “Harry Styles: Live on Tour Concert”
The concert was held at the American Airlines Center (AAC) in Dallas, Texas. The AAC is a multi-purpose arena situated at the Victory Park in Dallas. The center is also considered as the home for the NBA Basketball Team, the “Dallas Maverick” and the National Hockey League Team, the “Dallas Stars.” That night the arena was half-filled with people who were looking forward to seeing Kacey Musgraves in concert. The crowd was not typical rowdy unlike other contemporary concerts. The crowd remained seated for the most part of the concert. Although Musgraves is known as a country singer and songwriter, she was wearing a laidback outfit. If not for the cowboy hat, the audience would think it is one of those contemporary balladeer concerts. The cowboy hat might also be because the concert was held in Texas, home of the cowboys. As far as the crowd, most of the people were wearing shorts, jeans and t-shirts. Many of the audience were in their cowboy boots. Basically, everyone was relaxed and not too formal and savvy. The singer was wearing a flowing, short dress while wearing a bejeweled cowboy hat and leather boots.
Of all the songs that were played, the song “Follow Your Arrow” was the one that I personally liked. The song talks about the double standards that society have about so many issues. It is very captivating because it allows people to see the different views and the hypocrisy that consumes society. I find the song as an eye-opener that is aimed at enlightening people. As far as how the song was delivered, it was typical for a country music with the regular tempo and rhythm that fits the song perfectly.
There nothing in particular that I did not like. However, if I use the criteria of how Musgraves delivered the song, I would go for the song “Velvet Elvis” because part of the song could not be heard from where I was seated. They experience some technical issues during the playing of this song which affected the delivery of the artist. It also showed how Musgraves looked slightly displeased of what happened.
In conclusion, I think the concert was great. It is generally recommended for people who would like to relax and enjoy country music. It was not too trying hard, considering the age of the artist. The genre was age appropriate, regardless of the impression that country music is for old folks. Musgraves was able to make the music appealing to younger crowd. This concert was exceptional in the sense that it surpasses expectations. Normally, when attending a country music concert, you would think that it is boring and not enjoyable for the younger crowd. This one is just right.
