I Catherine Michetti write expressing my wish to be enrolled at the New School for a chance to study Jazz Bass performance. I am hopeful that after my studies I will be able to play on Broadway in pits, play with jazz bands and maybe take a global tour with other performers. Music has always been close to my heart and with New York being my home city I have made great leaps towards accomplishing my goals. I hope to add to my musical knowledge at the New School and make new connections in hope that it will take me to the places that I have not been.
As a person, I have been introverted and thus have always kept a lot to myself especially while among my classmates and friends. It is through keeping to myself and the urge for an outlet that music became my field of choice and a channel through which I can express myself to those around me. My passion in music is as old as I am and I am always uplifted when I play, make connections and learn something new to add to what I already know. I have since learned that any individual can do great when she engages in the endeavors that she holds passionately and for me it is music that makes me feel accomplished. I have studied jazz combo since I was a freshman and it happens to be my favorite class. It created a new path for me because I always thought that I would pursue studies in classical music. In the jazz combo class, I have learned to view music differently. More so, I have gained skills in walking the bass line, how to improvise an how to work with fellow musicians.

It is also to my advantage that I undertake my studies at The New School because it is close to my area of residence and the various connections that I have made in my life and career. Manhattan has been my home for quite some time and will greatly enhance my development in music considering that I do not have to change residence. It is also in New York that have met many like mined people with who I have learned the various lessons that are associated with music. I have admired the seriousness with which New Yorkers take the music profession and I am confident that the New School has what it takes to upgrade me to global standards.
I have had a great opportunity to play at the Frenchwoods Music during summer where I was honored to work with and alongside Jeff Carney from the New York Pops. It was a memorable moment which enhanced my faith in being a great musician after performing alongside great names like Carney. He is a great performer and I felt challenged to go extra mile in order to bring the best out of me. Carney also rated my performance and impressive reminding me that I could reach my dreams through making more effort and studying harder. I am also aware that Carney is not only a performer but also a teacher at the New School. I believe that a chance to study here will enable me to meet the best music teachers in America and would especially wish to learn more from Carney himself.
I have had great performances which remind me that I can produce music for international consumers. My greatest achievement is the Sydney Opera House performance in 2017. I also performed at the Carnegie Hall in the winters of 2014 and 2016. On top of music performances, I am also an artist whereby I have contributed for Marvel as a comic illustrator. I can also paint tables and ceilings and I am good in dabbling watercolors and acrylic paints.
