After observing the Richardson family consisting of three children; a son and two daughters, it is evident that the family has unique dynamics based on their interactions and relations. The family has strong interactions and all its members are present as they enjoy their picnic. The family has hierarchies as the father is the head because it is an American Jewish family. The observable alliances exist between the father and the daughters and the mother and son who seem to be too close. However, one notices that chores are not shared in the serving of meals as the family was on a picnic in the park. In fact, the mother and one of the daughters serve the meals and clear the place as the others engage in conversations.
As such, addressing the issue that the family faces requires the application of the strategic family therapy approach. This kind of therapy is short and precise to the issue and is aimed at changing how the family members interact, assess, and change the way they communicate and make decisions (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2015). In this case, the Richardson family should have shared responsibilities and review the existing hierarchies based on role play.

The two goals of this family are to ensure that they share responsibilities and change their perceptions on hierarchy. The theory is well-suited to attain these goals because of its features; it is brief and allows therapists to take powerful position in the family and enable the less powerful members to take their rightful positions. The therapy identifies issues that can be solved and sets goals, designs intervention to get the goals and assesses responses (Ackerman, 2017 & Szapocznik et al., 2015). Finally, it examines the results of the therapy.
My personal family experiences affects judgment and perception of the observation since I think that the father should be more understanding and not stick to his cultural traditions. Effectively, my experiences, values, perceptions and judgments are biased against the father.
