According to most research from different scholars, at least every one person among four people experiences an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Anxiety disorders have been commonly associated with women as a vital mental health problem, and only come second to substance abuse with regards to men. The disorders usually limit a person from working or studying, managing daily tasks, as well as relating or mingling with others. In the end, it leaves the person with not only profound personal suffering but also financial strain as well. Apparently, there are six main categories with regards to anxiety disorders, and they include, posttraumatic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, acute and generalized stress disorder, panic disorders, as well as, phobias (Hand, 2014). All these disorders may be different in some way, but they have some common features that include excessive and irrational fears, tense and apprehensive feelings, as well as difficulty in managing daily tasks.

The causes of anxiety disorders may still be unknown, but different researchers reveal that there are common factors associated with the development of anxiety disorders. Just like in order mental health issues, anxiety disorders likely originates from a combination of psychological and biological factors, together with challenging circumstances in a person's life experience. Such scenarios might include; traumatic and stressful events, development issues in childhood, medications, alcohol, and other substances, as well as a family history associated with anxiety disorders. According to Bruijnen et al. (2019), Childhood trauma exposure is likewise linked to the severity of symptoms for social anxiety disorders.

Be that as it may, these anxiety disorders are proven treatable with the right kind of medication and treatment. There are currently different methods to assist people in coping with anxiety disorders, which include meditation, relaxation training, stress management, and biofeedback. In other instance, anxiety disorder patients can benefit from family or couples therapy, or even supportive counseling (Kolar & Kolar, 2016). Nevertheless, the most effective form of treatment for anxiety disorders, according to experts, is the (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This treatment has been proven effective together with medications, and in some cases, medications and CBT are used together to treat anxiety disorders.

The CBT can be seen as a brief approach that focuses directly on the problem during treatment and is based on the behavioral and cognitive aspects relating to anxiety disorders. In essence, the CBT involves approximately 15 weeks on an hourly basis (Tompkins, 2013). During the first stages, the patient works closely with the therapist to help the therapist gain a better understanding of what the person is suffering from. The therapist assesses the symptoms of the person using a cognitive-behavioral framework, and eventually, the therapy tasks and goals are established. As the treatment continues, the individual is assigned cognitive and behavioral tasks to assist them in learning skills that help in reducing anxiety symptoms. The therapist, after that, monitors the patient as the symptoms improve in a bid to check for instances of relapse in the patient.

There are many other promising treatments for anxiety disorders that involves therapeutic approach, in which the side effects and therapeutic effects are well balanced to reduce or eliminate potential harm to the patients. In general, these treatment aims at achieving consistency and lasting solutions to the improvement of anxiety disorder symptoms (Rector et al., 2010). These treatments have different therapeutic and side effects and therefore require a well-calculated measure to ensure the patient does not suffer from the effects. For instance, there is Benzodiazepines, Ketamine, and Augmentation with psychostimulants, which have proven very effective in treating anxiety disorders, but they have side effects that may vary from one individual to another. For this reason, this treatment presents some ethical dilemmas, thus calling for a more appropriate prescription of drugs.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a number of a promising treatment for anxiety disorders have been developed, but the only challenging factor remains to be the different forms of anxiety disorder that require different treatment approaches, with some of them proving to have potential harm to health of patients. For this reason, it would be best for more research to be conducted to unveil a single treatment for anxiety, as well as reduce the cost incurred and potential side effects originating from the continuously developed drugs to treat anxiety disorders. Also, these people may recover quickly from single treatment approaches than having to go through many sessions of treatment.
