Stress is one of the mental health issues that has become rampant in the world today. Stress is a physical or emotional tension that can cause nervousness, frustration or anger. Be it positive or negative; stress interferes with the normal functioning of an individual. Positive stress makes one more competent, while negative stress is destructive. For this reason, there is a need to come up with effective methods of coping with stress. My suggestion is physical exercise.

According to Kim and McKenzie (2014), exercise elicits vigor, energy, and pleasure while at the same time reducing anger, anxiety, tension, and tiredness. Studies have revealed that people who engage in physical exercise are less stressed and more likely to attain psychological well-being. The main reason for selecting physical exercise is that it is an active leisure activity that provides various openings for dealing with stress and other benefits. In a study conducted by Kim and McKenizie (2014), results revealed that after physical exercise, the participants had a positive emotion, unity of body and mind, heightened self-esteem, leisure, problem-focused coping, and enhanced health behavior. Another reason is that anyone can practice physical exercise regardless of age, gender, or sex. Moreover, it can be used to maintain body weight, better heart functionality, and manage blood sugar levels. The study proved that it was appropriate for university students. Physical exercise helped them cope with the stress that emerges from their education endeavors and transition into adulthood.
