Robots are known to be programmable machines that can carry out tasks meant for human beings. They are widely used in the economic and business world as they help make work easier; therefore, they increase the productivity of a company or organization. Not only does it benefit the company in increasing productivity, but they also have several benefits such as time and cost-saving and increased profits among others (McKinsey Global Institute, 2017). Due to the several benefits of robots, many companies have incorporated these robots as well as artificial intelligence in their workplaces.
Historical understanding of robots in workplaces
The concept of robots and artificial intelligence has not only been used in the world today but also decades ago. The idea of robots and artificial intelligence was first conceived in the Ancient Greek, where it was more of spirit than form. They were made of chemical batter rather than metal as we know today. Generally, the development of robots was done during the beginning of the industrial age where robust robots were constructed. Most of the robots developed and constructed were used in the industrial sector of the economy. They were frequently designed and used to do heavy jobs that were difficult and almost impossible for a human being to do. Such kind of heavy jobs meant for robots was to the lifting of heavy materials such as metals and welding. In general, the robots were incorporated in workplaces, mostly in the industry sector in order to perform tedious, dangerous tasks with far much accuracy and speed. The understanding of the historical incorporation of robots in the workplaces is vital to a technology professional. This is because this information and understanding enable one to know the necessary foundation of robots as well as the evolution and transformation process they have gone through till this date.

The Understanding of the Current Situation Regarding Robots in Workplaces.
Unlike in the past, where robots were only adopted in the industrial sector, robots have taken a huge turn in the world today. Today, robots are being used in every sector in the economy, such as linguistics, hospitality, and construction, among other industries. The extensive usage of robots in the business world today is highly supported by the advancement of technology (Wladawsky-Berger, 2017). Moreover, automation in robots is becoming easier, more refined and efficient due to the development of technology. Artificial intelligence is also being easily incorporated in robots making robots to be more like a human being. Nowadays, robots have almost ninety per cent of human features such as senses, adaptability of environment, the sensitivity of different environments. Through this, it has been made easier for robots to be incorporated and engaged in different business sectors in the modern economic world (Wladawsky-Berger, 2017). Currently, some robots have begun to replace humans in their workplaces due to the advancement of artificial intelligence as companies and organizations prefer to engage robots rather than human beings. As a technology professional, it is important to understand this information since the world of robotics is changing. Understanding this information will enable one to get to know the available changes or the changes the current robots meant for. Since the world is continually changing as well as the technology itself, robots will as well go into transformation as per the technology.
Understanding of ethical questions regarding robots in workplaces
Ethical questions regarding robotics have risen drastically in the current status of robots. Robots ethics or rather Robo-ethics is a concern regarding the ethical problems that come along with robotics and artificial intelligence. Such ethical problems are frequently put into questions. The most frequent ethical questions regarding robotics and artificial intelligence are whether some uses of robotics are problematic, whether robots pose a threat to human beings in the short run and long run and how robots should be designed to act and behave ethically. These ethical questions represent concerns that human beings have regarding this technology of robotics and artificial intelligence.
Understanding of social implications regarding robots in workplaces
Despite the benefits that robots come along in businesses today, several implications are connected with incorporating robots in workplaces. One way or another, robots have some disadvantages along with advantages in the workplaces as well as around the people within the workplace. With the advances in technology, artificially driven robots are now working alongside humans as most of them are working in place of a human (Gaskell, 2018). Moreover, most of the robots today have started working on their own, and this has become both an advantage and a disadvantage to society.
Robots are replacing human beings in their workplaces through artificial intelligence. Such jobs that robots are replacing gradually are the taxi drivers through self-driving cars, waiters through automated human robots, fire extinguishers, in the packaging industries and in construction industries among others (National Council on Compensation Insurance, nd). Through this, the unemployment rate is rising as most graduates become jobless in society (Gaskell, 2018). However, besides the negative side, robotics and artificial intelligence are creating new job opportunities such as robots operators, trainers and manufacturers.
I got to know about such social implications that the robots are creating in society by interacting with various kinds of people in society, whether young or old. Some of them are happy due to the advanced robotics and artificial intelligence technology as some are unhappy with that. Through this understanding, I can be able to have research on the possible solutions available for the negative implications of robotics and artificial intelligence.
Understanding of social responsibility as a technology professional regarding robots in workplaces
Technology professionals have some social responsibility towards the society regarding robotics in workplaces. They have to understand that corporate social responsibility is one of the priorities that should be considered in the development of robots. With the development and construction of artificial intelligence robots, technology professionals should consider the concerns of the society and community as well as preserve the environment. They should understand that the produced robots that work all by themselves through artificial technology should be able to preserve the environment as well as respect the concerns of the community and society. Through this understanding and information, I can understand some of the corporate social responsibility, and it will enable me to apply in my professional career..
The main thing I have learned about Robots + Work
The main thing that I have learned about robotics in workplaces is the fact that robotics is the modern technology of our modern business and economic world. It was, is and forever be a part of the human’s lives in the economic and social context. Robots are a great invention with both negative and positive impacts on the business and social lives of human beings. Through this experience, I am now able to understand the path technology, robotics and artificial intelligence are heading to. Therefore, it will be easier to cope up and adopt as well as implement changes in this sector.
Conclusion
Robotics will always be a part of human beings' lives. Therefore, it is a high time for individuals to come up with several options and possible solutions that can solve the problems and negative implications of robotics and artificial intelligence. However, the general overview of robotics and artificial intelligence is transforming the world entirely with more positive implications. Businesses are more profitable with the use and incorporation of robots and productivity and efficiency is highly increased (West, 2018). Moreover, robots have made work easier, such as putting fire and in the construction industry where the speed of work is increased and projects take a shorter time than before. Therefore, robotics and artificial intelligence are important in human lives.
