The connection between the rates of violence and criminality among men and women who are suffering from various types of mental disorders is still under research. With some success, it has been proved that mental disorders are directly related to various crimes that are met in the criminal justice sector ( Hiday, & Moloney, 2016) . Apart from people who are mentally ill beings violence and perpetrating various types of crimes, some mentally ill people also become victims of crime under different circumstances ( Schug, & Fradella, 2015). There are various types of mental disorders that are connected with violence and crime and an example of a common disorder is Schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that is very common especially among men compared to women. Schizophrenia is defined as a serious mental disorder that causes people to interpret reality abnormally. For instance, the disorder mainly affects how people express emotions, think, and relate to others and how they perceive reality ( MacPhail, & Verdun-Jones, 2019) . The major signs and symptoms of schizophrenia are delusions, hallucinations, and extremely disordered behavior.

People suffering from Schizophrenia have problems cooperating in society and this is why the disorder is highly connected to rates of crime. Initially, I doubted whether Schizophrenia is connected to criminal justice. However, I recently learned that several people have been diagnosed to be suffering from Schizophrenia after getting involved in criminal activities. This disorder is interesting to me because it entails a range of problems with cognition, emotion, and behavior ( MacPhail, & Verdun-Jones, 2019) . These three are the foundation to most of the problems that are encountered in criminal justice by either victims or perpetrators. For example, abnormal motor or extremely disorganized behavior such as agitation and resistance to instructions are some of the causes of crimes ( Hiday, & Moloney, 2016) . Other symptoms such as hallucination and delusion may cause to break the law without even knowing. Lastly, Schizophrenia can also make other people easily become victims of crime. For example, those showing negative symptoms such as lack of ability to functions normally can put them vulnerable to attack by rapists or other criminals.
