Public arts refer to sculptures placed in areas accessible to all people and tend to have a hidden meaning. Sculptures have different meanings worldly based on the motive and place of installation. The Statue of Liberty refers to a sculpture located on Liberty Island in New York. The statue made of copper on a metallic framework shows the power of liberty and freedom to the people of the United States.
The Stature of Liberty was given to the people of America on October 28, 1886, from the people of French. The sculpture was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi from France while the framework by Gustave Eiffel. The sculpture shows the liberty goddess from Roman named Libertas holding a torch on the right hand above her head. On the left hand, Libertas holds a tabula ansata written in Roman numbers to represent the date of independence declaration in the United States. The posture of the goddess shows a forward movement with a broken chain at her feet ( Klein, 2018) . The statue gives a welcoming gesture to immigrants and has served as a destination for a national park in the USA.

The source of funding for the construction of the sculpture was fundraising from the citizens. The financing of the sculpture was a collaborative project between the United States and France after a law professor and politician named Laboulave commented to in spite of the French sculpt. The government of France funded the statue while the U.S financed the building on the pedestal and provided the site. The construction of the sculpture faced financial difficulties due to the unsuccessful fundraising America to build the pedestal. The fundraising organized in 1882 lagged and could barely manage the budget until when the government of New York pledged to give $50,000 in 1884 which was never honored. Pulitzer initiated new fundraising and promised to publish the names of all contributors. The total amount later contributed for the pedestal after the statue was shipped into America was $102000 from 120,000 donors.
The sculpture represents the America Liberty after a series of involvements in war. The woman represents the cultural figure of the nation and the goddess highly worshipped in ancient Rome for the cry of liberty among the slaves. The torch symbolizes peace on the top part of the nation thus a redemption from sufferings. The long gown covering the woman on the sculpture shows cultural stability in the United States. The feeling when I first saw the statue of Liberty was relieving and exciting to see a woman fully dressed holding a torch above her head. The position of the torch on the top of her head triggered the feeling of victory and urged to embrace peace. The brown color of the sculpture gave a feeling of dark moments which later changed on reading the captions and history about the sculpture ( Stovall, 2018) . The feeling about the sculpture is different because of the interpretation based on writer document. The history on the construction gives a sense of irresponsible feeling but fluctuates on knowing it's a gift. The overall feeling from the sculpture is liberty and love from the people of French for gifting the people of the United States.
The sculpture of liberty located on the Island in New York, United States represents the pace from freedom. The sculpture is a gift from the people of French and involves a woman holding a torch on the right hand above her head. The torch represents peaceful existence among the slaves while the broken chain at the feet of the woman shows liberty from slavery.
