Coping with stress refers to the way an individual consciously tries to minimize, tolerate, or master problems and stressors in life. To achieve this, there are basic science characteristics that are involved, such as objectivity, the ability to observe and accept reality as it is. Accuracy; describing things as they are and not drawing unwarranted conclusions (Mondal, 2014). Meditation is a behavioral science that would be applied to aid manage the stress. Meditation strategy involves addressing the emotions linked with the stressor through distraction, isolation, or managing an individual's mental state. The meditation approach is useful in helping individuals cope with stress. 

Stress and Coping 

In the past few years, the rate at which people, young adults, and even children are dying of anxiety and depression is alarming. Therefore, I have chosen to discuss ways of coping with stress to minimize such instances and deaths. Stress creates havoc on an individual’s emotional balance as well as physical health. It reduces the ability to reason, function, think clearly, and enjoy life. Hence stress management strategies are essential in helping people under stress cope with stress, be happier, more productive, and healthier (Admin, 2019). The goal is to help one build meaningful relationships, have a balanced life, create time for work, relax, have fun, and achieve the resilience to survive under pressure as well as overcome challenges.

Conclusion 

Meditation can help a person separate himself or herself from his or her thoughts as a reaction to stress, so one can select an appropriate response instead of reacting out of fear or panic. It also allows people to relax their bodies, which helps reverse the stress response. People who seek meditation frequently are less reactive to stressful situations (Admin, 2019). On the contrary, meditation may contribute to antisocial behaviors and damage a person’s sense of self. Even though meditation has some disadvantages, the benefits are vital as it helps individuals manage stress, thus, minimizing deaths caused by stress and depression.
