Fiction describes a type of narrative made up of imaginary characters, events, and descriptions. It is not based on necessary on history or facts. Fiction writing is mostly seen in novels and narrative films. The   primary conventions and elements of fiction genre are plot, character, setting, style, point of view, theme, and tone. Each element contributes to writing fiction and giving it meaning. The theme describes the main idea the author is trying to pass. Characters actualize the theme by playing it out in a plot, which is the flow of ideas and activities that support the main idea ( Kress, 2011) . The settings of stories are usually physical and chronological. The physical environment describes where the narration or film takes place. Chronological describes the order of events, such as when they took place. The tone is used to enhance the message being passed, for example, pitiful, sad, merry. These are determined by how characters play the theme and setting of the story .

Fiction uses different literal and symbolic meanings. A metaphor creates literal meaning by setting one thing as equal to another. The comparison creates an image of what the author is referring to without the use of sign or equation. The use of personification, for example, creates human characteristics or emotion to non-living things, thus understanding it better. Allegory illustrates something religious or abstract using something concreate. Allegory is used to compare a complete work, not part of it. Description of the Christian's lives, for example, can be done using the Bible, which gives accounts of different figures and how Christians in the contemporary world are expected to live  ( Kress, 2011). The myth describes the history of a group of people, a natural phenomenon involving superior events or beings. Myths are cultural and sometimes shared among different groups. However, the meaning of a particular object may be different in various communities. Myth creates symbols depending on the beliefs of a specific culture.
