It is essential for leaders to come up with precise and clear measurable goals toward the principal purpose. To ensure a harmonious coexistence between people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, Law enforcement officers need to formulate ways of achieving unity and peace between members of warring cultures. Asians living in the United States has over the years been subjects of racial based violence and abuse. Some of the Asian Americans sufferings from ethnic-based discrimination are victims of human trafficking, who accessed the country through failed promise of living the American dream and ended up being sick, homeless, and living in undignified life in a foreign country (Shusta et al., 2015, p. 151). Others include offspring of the trafficked Asians. Deployed to deal with problems facing the Asian American ethnic communities, the law enforcement bodies are ineffective in various ways. First, the members of these ethnic communities live under fear of reporting matters to police due to constant threats and fear instilled on them through persecution and continuous harassment. Secondly, the language barrier between them and the law enforcement officers hinders effective communication, further decreasing chances of getting help from police. They also viewed as illegal immigrants and perpetual foreigners who are hated by indigenous people for causing economic problems and taking their jobs (Shusta et al., 2015, p. 150). They, therefore, don’t regularly get adequate representation in the law enforcement bodies.
One of the most relevant leadership goal aimed towards improving the relationship between indigenous communities and members of Asian American ethnic groups is improving communication. Victims of abuse and victimization can only get assistance if they are given an excellent platform to air their grievances and report cases against them to relevant law enforcement bodies. It is crucial for law enforcement officers to determine the appropriate language and skills to apply while working for the Pacific American communities. For instance, due to constant threat posed to these victims of abuse and negative ethnicity, the law enforcement officer should formulate a platform which enables the victims to report the matter to police 24 hours a day. In the stipulated time of 8 to 5 o’clock, most of the victims would not be able to express their plight due to the presence of the oppressors. The law enforcement also needs to learn the correct language terms and names to use while addressing the members of these communities (Shusta et al., 2015, p. 152). Some of the words used to refer to the Pacific American maybe abusive hence the law enforcement officers should consult them. Majority of the poor Pacific Americans cannot communicate effectively in English. Law enforcement officers, therefore, need to acquire additional communication skill to apply while addressing them such as communication through gestures and other forms of nonverbal communication (Shusta et al., 2015, p. 153). Good communication skill bolsters cooperation between victims and law enforcement officers in eradicating cases of negative ethnicity. Communication also boosts people’s confidence in the rule of law

Good leadership skill involves setting up crucial goals toward achieving certain objectives. Goals should be specific measurable and timely. One of the most fundamental leadership goals especially when dealing with relationships is communication. Without proper communication skills, it is impossible to create harmonious coexistence and functional relationships between different parties. Law enforcement officials have an active role to play in combating crime and violence, but it would be beneficial if they are actively involved in bolstering coexistence rather than being called upon to solve issues and conflict. One of the most straightforward aspects to work on is communication. A good communication platform coupled with useful skill will enable people to express themselves and report cases of abuse hence getting help from law enforcement bodies in time. The plight of Pacific American needs to be addressed effectively especially during the ongoing trade war between the east and the west.
