The American Psychological Association (APA)
A discourse community is a group of people with common values and assumptions who devise ways to communicate their goals. With the realization that employees are the building blocks of any organization, employers have learned to maximize their work attitude by devising result-oriented mechanisms (Dworetzky, 1997). The productivity of workers in any organization depends on their job satisfaction therefore employers should ensure effective organizational structures and processes are put in place.
Psychology entails the study of the human mind and behavior. APA’s mission is to promote the advancement, communication, and application of psychological science and knowledge to benefit society and improve lives . The organization is characterized by performance excellence as well as excellent customer service provision. All these are geared towards psychological advancement to ensure respect for employee and customer relationships.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Activities implemented and evaluated by APA cover education and training, advocacy, public education & outreach, and lastly member communications. Its set values are, fairness and decency, teamwork spirit, flexibility, individual differences, employee development, collaborative decision making, employee wellbeing, open communication, employee recognition, and organizational self-knowledge (American Psychological Association, 2001) . From these values, it is safe to say that the organization is looking to have an all-around workforce by investing responsibly in the necessary areas to attain effectiveness in service provision towards the end goal.
The values are relatable and safe for any job seeker because a high percentage of their needs have been factored in.
Center for Disease Control (CDC)
An organization with a mission centered on saving lives by eliminating probable health, safety, and security related threats both foreign and in America and as the name suggests it strives to control diseases and prevent their occurrence as well. American citizens and communities are therefore encouraged to observe CDC’s set standards for guaranteed health security. CDC provides health-related information and conducts scientific researches to protect the nation from dangerous health threats.
Activities of CDC include improvement on quality, researches on science to determine risk factors, continuous education by making the citizens aware of the ongoing health trends (Centers for Disease Control and PreventionU.S, 2000) . Its values include; stewarding the funds entrusted to their agency , providing an environment for personal growth and integrity, sourcing highest quality scientific data, prioritizing societal needs to institutional benefits, treating all persons with dignity, honesty, and respect.
CDC is characterized by numerous researches and surveillance to identify upcoming health threats. it therefore, takes more interest in ensuring the entire nation and its citizens are free from any health threats. It comes to mean that all their attention and interest is on their external shareholders as opposed to the APA. This is because, the employees of this institution are working hard to ensure the elimination of health disasters that could affect them and the nation at large.
Such an organizational setting is hit by a lot of impromptu pressures from the government and Americans hence the management tends to neglect its employees' needs by expecting them to be productive under such harsh environments. Political interferences would also alter the performance of such an entity because of fear of opinion clashing with the superiors.
