With more people joining social media today and using frequently, the importance of social media in both daily life and in business is growing. Businesses have profited a lot from social media since they have reached their target audience. Customers have also benefited by engaging with their favorite brands and connecting with businesses better. One social media platform that has changed the way businesses today is Twitter. Twitter is a leading social media platform, has made it possible for businesses to connect much more efficiently and communicate with their customers quite effectively. Twitter has a worldwide and international presence and there are millions of active users on Twitter on a daily basis. Twitter is a social media platform that has improved business by providing a platform for marketing, engaging with customers, and answering customer views and concerns.

There are millions of active users on twitter and it is the best platform where businesses can reach out and get a new audience. 65.8% of companies are using twitter in promoting their business (Raina, 2018). Small businesses that use Twitter can realize several advantages since the promotion of their business on the platform is affordable. Small businesses can generate new leads and sales, increase brand awareness, and build a community with the target market (Raina, 2018). Small businesses can make use of hashtags that involve promotional strategies in order to attract new customers.

Twitter is a reliable and professional platform that businesses use to offer customer support. Twitter has become the fasted way to keep in touch with customers especially in solving problems from their feedbacks. Businesses can listen to what customers have to say about their products and take action on the feedback. It has helped in keeping the customers updated and posted and have the latest information, promotions, and sales of businesses. Heyns and Buckley (2019) identified that Twitter is a reliable knowledge-sharing platform where businesses can transfer knowledge about their products and services to customers. Businesses also use official Twitter handles where customers can reach out to them in case they have any questions. Customers expect to get replies within minutes or hours after posting their concerns.

Twitter is an open platform and is easy to see conversations with different customers. Prospect customers can see how a business engages with the customers and this can be proof that a company has proper customer support. Customers and the world at large can see how businesses communicate with their existing customers and many people can have an adequate description of the nature of service. This creates a sense of ownership and also responsibility when communicating with your customers. The open platform is also like a marketplace where businesses can find potential customers in need of a company’s service. Another advantage of it being open is one can easily identify and also target customers easily. Businesses can also analyze customers by searching their interests, their websites and also the profile. This is important as businesses can develop context first before approaching customers. The result is that the open platform has built a strong community where businesses engage with their customers on the twitter platform. 

Twitter has become among the best marketing tools. It has allowed followers to connect with people or customers around the world thus breaking the distance barrier. The use of paid ads and posting good content, businesses have reached their target market and converted them to loyal customers. Businesses on twitter and social media, in general, have seen an increase in the opportunity of increasing sales and also growth of their revenue. Businesses that want to explore Twitter make use of creative hashtags, paid ads, and interaction with customers to realize full advantages of the platform.
