The discussions in the previous readings indicate that the learner undertook important considerations regarding the multicultural awareness and competencies. Undertaking considerations on issues concerning cultural diversities in a given society allows an individual to understand ways of dealing with other cultures and enhance competency (Kaatrakoski, Littlejohn, & Hood, 2017). Being a competent counselor requires an individual to have the adequate skills to relate with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and have the necessary levels of sensitivity while dealing with other individuals from different cultures. Based on all the discussion threads, I feel that the counselor presents high levels of cultural sensitivity that helps in understanding various factors associated cultural diversities. I feel that the given individual presents high levels of professionalism considering the responses that are mentioned in various discussions relating to cultural issues in a given society. I feel that the counselor have the relevant abilities to deal with challenges that concerns multiculturalism in a given society.
Multiculturalism is a significant aspect in psychology that helps in providing an overall understanding on the key issues that concern the cultural diversities and factors to consider when dealing with individuals across different cultures (Smiraglia, 2009). After reading the counselor’s perspective on the issue of multiculturalism, I would consider meeting the given counselor in order to learn more issues relating to the given aspects of culture in the society. I would wish to seek more clarification and insights concerning the given issue that affect social cohesion and integration within a given society. Being from a different cultural background from the counselor’s, I feel that the individual is considerate on all major aspects that relate to cultural diversities in a given region in a bid to overcome cultural conflicts that arise from cultural diversities.
