The increase in entertainment devices and platforms has transformed the way people consume technology. Technology is the primary means of entertainment transmission and reception. As much as there are advantages with technology, it also has disadvantages. The entertainment industry is a multi-billion dollar industry with diverse income streams. It is part of the culture in which we live, and it impacts people globally. Entertainment is the acquisition or provision of a form of amusement or enjoyment. It is a component of human existence. Some people have entertainment in small measures while others have it to a modest degree. Also, certain individuals are at the extreme of entertainment, the excess. However, what is considered excess or constant is relative. What is entertaining to one person may not be for another. People pursue entertainment for different reasons. This paper is a response to the question: "Is the ability to be constantly entertained always a good thing?" Thus, endless entertainment affects overall productivity and relationships.

Frequent entertainment that becomes addictive and obsessive disrupts the life functions of the one entertained. When people do not have control over one aspect of their lives, other aspects get affected. This sort of involvement and engagement creates an imbalance in work or relationships. Different types of entertainment have different addictive levels, and like drug addiction, the craving for more is costly. Mental health issues can arise because of overindulgence in entertainment. It takes finances to acquire some form of entertainment. Constant entertainment can affect other areas of one's life if funds are not properly distributed. For those who cannot afford, they will look for other means so as to be satisfied or amused. So, personal life responsibilities and opportunities may be abandoned because of being engrossed with entertainment.

Additionally, frequent entertainment prevents individual reflection and impair life goal-setting. The distractions associated with being engaged or always seeking entertainment are enormous. Life presents challenges from time to time, and people need some duration of reflection. Goal-setting allows people to plan and set goals that will keep them focused on their self-development. Often, goals that are unique and have timelines fail to be accomplished because of entertainment engagements. Many people have had accidents at the workplace, home or elsewhere because of constant entertainment. Others, because of lack of concentration due to entertainment have failed in productive endeavors.

Moreover, constant entertainment has a possibility of low productivity in life. Many think that multitasking makes people more efficient and fruitful. However, research does not sufficiently support the notion that multitasking makes people more productive. Multitasking does not enhance the problems associated with juggling many tasks. Thus, constant entertainment disrupts individuals and fragments their attention into several activities making them less productive. This effect is because, instead of focusing on one task at a time, attention and energy are spread in different directions resulting in low productivity.

Finally, work-life balance and relationships are affected by excessive entertainment. The management of time is critical to how people balance work-life. Office or home relationship functionality depends on how time is used. Ineffective use of time at home and work will affect the relationships that people keep. Entertainment requires time, so one has to design and create time for it and relationships. Excessive entertainment will influence the work-life equilibrium which will reflect on the individual and those around him/her.

Therefore it can be concluded that, the ability to be constantly entertained is not a good thing. It is something that has to be moderately allowed in people's lives. Excessive entertainment can result in mental issues. It can affect other aspects of a person's life. Individuals who engage in constant entertainment have the possibility of becoming addicted and obsessive and demonstrate low productivity and unhealthy relationships.
