Fausto-Sterling’s article is informative and rational in a unique manner. The author focuses on her novel concept of changing the attitude and definition of gender based on the outer genital and only regarding gender as either male or female. Her ability to discuss the different genders namely; male, female, hermaphrodites, male pseudohermaphrodites (merms) and pseudohermaphrodites (ferms) is explicable (Fausto-Sterling, 2000). The article focus of discouraging surgeons from genitals surgery of babies based on physical or bodily appearance is a great argument as most of the surgeries have led to conflicting likes and preferences after the baby matures and wishes to be different. She claims that the society prejudice and definition of gender by indicating their roles is also affecting adults who had doctors choose their gender hence the high rate of people defying the social norms in the current world.
I concur that those opposed to the five sexes due to their religious believes are unjust for the few who are caught between the socially acceptable gender definitions. It is the high time that Christians and other radical religious people to realize that sex is not only based on genitals either a vagina or penis but should gain more knowledge of human biology. The religious disapproval of scientific discoveries is not new as science and religion have always conflicted but since most of the right wings are educated it is just a political stance to gain votes according to my perception.

The author has done a great task in justifying her novel concept as she proves each point of view from both biological and social perspective portraying her rationality in her conclusions.
