First part
Pablo Neruda through his poem “The united fruit company” explores the injustices done to Latin America and chooses to voice out the various concerns. The Chilean poet goes into the detail of how dominion and monopoly took the power and voice of his people. Neruda has greatly used metaphors, symbolism and allusions among others to satirize the United States authorities. In his work he also uses religion as a tool through which the dominating powers used to win the hearts of people and pave way for them to suppress their rights and privileges. There are various sections that can be analyzed to get the theme of the poem as well as other critical components
A
The metaphor of Jehovah has been used by the author to refer to the authorities who used their power in exploiting the Latin America territories. Neruda uses Christian religion majorly in the poem because it was the means through which the American territories in the North used to enter into the Latin region and eventually took over their land. Jehovah according to Christianity is a supreme being who is supposed to be revered and obeyed by everyone. In this regard the invaders used religion to call for obedience of authorities while taking away the Latin America resources. Additionally, the fruit metaphor is critical in introducing the united fruit company which exploited the people of Latin America. The Latin America nations were great in the production of bananas and pineapples which brought great income and prosperity to the territories as a result of the export business that opened up their economy. The fruits produced in this region made the America nations in the North to name it as a banana republic. It is through the successful fruits production that the territory was invaded and colonized and taken over by the fruit company which became a monopoly in the region. Wikipedia.org (2020). The imperial crown ironically refers to the power to dictate and rule over the people. Through it the people of Latin America were oppressed and colonized in their own region. Imperial crown gave the united fruit factory the power to become a monopoly take over the powerful economic sector of Latin America nations. One of the characters in the dictatorship of flies is Raphael Trujillo who was a dictator in the Dominican Republic. Tachos was the president of Nicaragua also known as Anastacio Somoza. Carias was the president of Honduras and his full name is Tiburcio Carias Andino. On the other hand Martinez was the president of El savador his full name was Maximiliano Hernandez. Jorge Ubico was a Guatemala dictactor. The meaning of Banana republic are all the nations in the Latin America that was actively doing banana farming as their major economic activity. It was used by the colonialists to refer to the nations because they were involved in lucrative banana exportation.

C
The stanza depicts that the politics of corporate greed and ‘blood thirsty flies’ worked together because they had common selfish interest of gaining so much out of taking all that belonged to the common citizen. It is through power that the corporate were able to benefit themselves through huge profits as they fed the greedy dictatorial leaders. When corporate bodies whose goal is to maximize profits even at the expense of others take charge coupled with dictatorial governments then people are plunged into misery and oppression. The leaders will use their power to endorse the monopolies that in turn fund them and support every financial need of the dictators. Tyranny combined with greed lead to oppression of people and lose of humanity.

D
The Indians are described as victims because they fall into a trap of doing business by them eventually lose their lives. The loss of is considered as loss of profits a very sarcastic reality where the greedy business men and tyrant leaders do not consider the loves of people but rather profits lost. Although everyone was thought to be in business the Indians seem to be duped into traps that end in tears and loss of lives. The dictators only support the people that can play the game of oppression together and have a symbiotic relationship. Just as the Indians are betrayed the civilians and the poor were also back stabbed in the same manner.

Second Part
E
The impact of the written poem compared to that put in musical version is great. The musical version is more expressive and easily catches the attention of any viewer and listener because of the sound effects, facial expression vocal tones and also mood depiction. It gives more life to the written poem. The instruments can be used in different ways to express pain, anger, sadness and the misery of the oppressed people of Latin America. The musical version of the chorus brings in an effect of tone as the beats express sadness and somber mood. The orchestra is also great in bringing out the true element of sad musical tone. The person reading out the poem represents the tone of the people and their voices in trying to air out their grievances. The written poem as much as gives the message to the reader does not convey certain elements in great depths that will set out the true and actual meaning mood, tone and oppression themes of the poem.
