The invention of the Uber app has brought technologically-driven revolution to the economy. The app links passengers to drivers who are nearby for hire. Installation of the app in an individual’s smartphone enables him or her to be able to access the services with ease. However, uberization of work would have a positive effect on my career. This is because uberization of work would enable me to access a more flexible work schedule. Linking with potential employers through an online platform would give me the opportunity to choose the employer who has the best terms of employment. A flexible work schedule would increase my productivity and also give me a chance to grow my career.

A number of factors would motivate me to join with other employees to negotiate for better terms of employment. Key among them would be job security and the wages that I receive. The current shift in economy and advancement in technology does not guarantee job security to most employees. Some organizations lay off their employees without much notice and therefore job security would be a vital factor in negotiating with the employer. Also, wages or salaries are the rewards for labor. To be more productive, the wages or salaries should be a crucial factor to negotiate with employer since it is the major source of motivation to work.

As an employee, I would prefer to be in a workers Union, which is legally recognized by the state and the employer. This is because a Union is better placed to address the issues that concern me as a worker than any other form of worker’s organization. A Union has the necessary channels to address workers’ concerns.

Representing workers or the employer in a negotiation would require both skills and patience. A negotiation process should be a win-win situation for both the employer and the employees. Therefore, representing either of the two parties would mean ensuring that my client gets the best deal. Achieving this would require an effective strategy that would give the desired results. For instance, I would ensure that I am not the first to make an offer during negotiations. This is because the other party may make a better offer than what you had to offer.

The impression that remained with me after viewing the film Final offer is that the workers will always take home less income while their employers accumulate more wealth. The contract negotiations between United Auto Workers and General Motors Corporation saw Bob White try to secure a deal for the auto workers. However, the wealthy Roger Smith is adamant to accept the deal that Bob White proposes. The workers are depicted to be their own worst enemies in the contract negotiations and that the employers expect them to accept less as they receive massive bonuses.
