Immigration to the USA has been one of the global debates that have captured headlines in almost all major media outlets. In the article, “Trump’s order to ban refugees and immigrants’ triggers fears across the globe”, the authors note that the executive order by president Trump of tightening the vetting process of potential immigrants as well as visitors to the country, including banning some refugees seeking to resettle in America will lead to shattering of countless dreams as well as divide many families (Sieff et al., 2017) . The authors refer to the first executive order that was issued by president Trump where he immediately halted the resettlement of Syrian refugees into America as well as blocking entry of immigrants or visitors from six more countries which included Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, and Libya (Sieff et al., 2017) .
The issue of immigrants ban to the United States is explained from different viewpoints. For example, from the legal point of view, the ban is taken by some Americans as a way of ensuring law and order in the vetting process of visitors. On the other hand, the security people see it as a way of keeping Americans safe, which has been the main argument by the president. Economically, some have argued, including the president, that banning some visitors from America is essentially meant to ensure that jobs are created for local people and those with genuine working permits. At the same time, Trump has complained of illegal trade including drug trafficking as one of the reasons he is tightening the grip on banning and vetting process.

However, at a personal level, I find the ban to be a clear indication of extension of animosity propagated by the Republicans against the Muslim community. If this was not the case, the president would have allowed genuine immigrants from the seven countries to get to the USA instead of banning good and bad elements.
