In the recent past, I effectively engaged in a forum that aimed at creating awareness about climate change and how citizens can participate in preventing climate change. The collaboration skills I gained in class helped me be a responsible group leader who influenced people to engage in meaningful brainstorming. Collaboration and leadership skills are instrumental in professional development ( Rubin, 2009). This was on a professional level because it was a volunteer with a non-profit organization. On a personal level, I have gained decision-making skills that are indispensable in guiding my choices about finances and prioritizing urgent responsibilities while rescheduling others. Such decision-making skills have influenced my professional development because I have become a critical thinker through this process.
I plan on putting my education into use within my community by influencing youths to engage in different activities prevalent in business hubs and non-profit organizations, most of which ensure personal development. I also plan to use the knowledge I have acquired at school, for example, networking to create a mentoring program where youths are mentored on career development, being responsible citizens and identifying undertakings they can assume to positively impact others in the community.
