What is Romantic (with a capital R) about these two pieces?
For Hector Berlioz’s Symphonies fantastique, it is evident that he is trying to pass a certain form of entertainment through his music, where the creation is wholly original and how the setting of the music comes out, it reveals that Berlioz Symphonies is created out of emotions. There are instances of originality in music. In Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, there is evidence or rather instances when the music shows some individuality in that each playing the chords is given a chance to express personal emotions and the freedom to experiment with different forms. The music exhibits the classical characteristics, which gives it the Romantic taste and also makes it enjoyable.
How the use of Romantic supports the Meaning of the Music
Composers make proper use of the Romantic orchestra to make sure that the music they compose brings out the message they conveyed to the audience. It is a western culture song, but the way the composer used the Romantic makes the music outstanding. Firstly, the music's composer explains his feeling, and the composition of the music brings out the form of originality because the artist's emotions on the song explain how deep the message, he is conveying to the people means to him. All this is made possible because selecting the different musical instruments converts the music into a soul-touching piece full of emotions and individualism. The fact that the music emphasizes the composer's personal feelings and the proper use of the programmatic elements has brought back the Romantic feeling of the 19 th -century composure into the current world or rather the 20 th century.
I chose the music because it has that aspect where it relates to the 19 th -century composure through the use of the Romantic. Besides, the song's message is too emotional, and the family of musical instruments used makes the music's composure reflect that of the 19 th -century. The sample music I selected is related to the first part of the discussion because it applies or uses all the set standards of classical music's appropriate composure. This selected sample brings out the two meanings of Romantic, where the two aspects are well evident in the sample through the composure and the musicality. It is a replica of how extensive and diverse the composure of music has grown from the 18 th century to today. The song is also a dramatic opera, a design used in the 18 th century. It is passionate about the romantic message and a Romantic composure that turns out so inspiring due to the form of art incorporated. It also brings those old days and feelings of how the Romantic genre was known to be passionate and of intense energy, incorporated into that selected sample.
