Introduction

Texas has never been able to raise its minimum wage since 2009, despite several pleas from the workers union, Democrats, and activists. It has been almost a decade since the last salary raise. Economic growth gets realized annually, which means prices of goods and services increases too, though with small margins. The increment in prices of products and services without a corresponding increase in wages will result in economic suicide to the workers as they will eventually miss affording necessary goods and services. Texas City should raise the minimum wage to $ 10.10 to finally $15 per hour to scale production and foster economic growth. (Groves, Lee, & Strandberg, 2015).

Revision of minimum wage paid to the workers means well to the living standards and economic growth at large. Despite the fretting experienced by economists and policymakers, the ever-changing costs of living and advancements within the economy warrants a rise in income. Workers like any other advanced and skilled individuals are entitled to proper shelter, decent meals, and decent clothing. $7.25 per hour never has and will never be enough to cater for rent, food, clothing, health insurance and emergency funds; these conditions expose workers to poverty lines.

Bills 924 and 937 exclusively defines wages increment in a broader perspective and explains why it is a significant venture both to Texas’s economy and over 2.4 million workers present in the Texan working environment. (Hasan, 2017). Workers who are paid $7.25 an hour experience a steep hill to get a quality living for themselves and their loved ones, with most of them preceding meals. Medical emergencies are unavoidable in life, but workers with such a pay find themselves in a stable state when they fall sick. Without a medical insurance cover or enough savings for contingencies, the hourly rate will be a ticket to poor living standards. (Hasan, 2017).

Texan small, medium and large businesses may protest such proposals but with explicit evaluation, increasing of income will foster production and contribute to more revenue. Workers in any organization are potential and first clients of any organization they work for, therefore what does wage increment mean to inflation and economic growth? When workers are enabled to earn good wages hourly, they will adopt the right capacity to purchase goods and seek services they were neglected because of inadequate resources. (Hasan, 2017).It will escalate demand and supply chains thus promoting growth in production and eventually resulting in economic growth. Inflation will not pose any threatening challenges as its occurrence still plays a vital role in the expansion and growth of output. Texan workers commit and sacrifice every sweat to earn and just like other workers in other cities who are paid better wages, deserve a better living.

Texan organizations involved with policy implementation should devise a strategy to increase wages with a little percentage annually for 4-5 years to achieve the $10.10 and eventually $15 without causing havoc to the economy. Workers with a reputable remuneration plan have proofed to be so productive, saving organizations the burdens of hiring more workers or losing any employees at some point. Psychologically, good wages provides peace of mind and soul, as a result, prevents workers from being succumbed to depression and other health-threatening situations.
