Background 

The Valley Times 1946-1970, which is an exhibit that can be located at the museum of the San Fernando Valley was a local newspaper that engaged in publishing daily news at San Fernando Valley. The daily newspaper focused on reviewing the news and happenings to the people in the region. As part of addressing the daily happenings The Valley Times capitalize on the use of photos to depict the current situation of an issue being addressed. In 1981, the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) capitalized on obtaining the entire collection of photographs from the newspaper (The Museum of the San Fernando Valley, 2019). The objective of obtaining the collection of the photos was to document and enhance the preservation of the history of San Fernando Valley. The collection of photos documented different aspects that are significant in the history of the region thus the need to implement measures to preserve the photos for the future generations.

Impact on the People 

The Valley Times newspaper had a significant impact on the lives of people in San Fernando Valley. Firstly, the daily newspaper acted as an important source of information regarding the happenings in the region (Langenheim et al., 2011). Majority of the people in the region relied on the information from the newspaper on different aspects regarding the political, economic and social welfare in the society. Secondly, the newspaper engaged in different kinds of investigations that sought to provide crucial information to the public. The information helped in ensuring that the people understood the current situation of the region based on the day to day happenings that were documented by the newspaper.

Considering that the newspaper capitalized on the use of photographs helped in documenting an important history of the region. After the World War II, San Fernando Valley experienced growth and development, which was among the issues addressed in the day to day news within the newspaper (Velasquez,, 2015). The newspaper provided information concerning the changes that were experienced within the environment involving photos that portrayed the situation of the given region. In overall, the newspaper helped the people to have an understanding of different factors that were relevant in enhancing the welfare of the society. Additionally, the newspaper played a significant role in the formation of the history of San Fernando Valley considering the documentation of key happenings during the time.

Famous Stories Released

The Valley Times 1946-1970 published dozens of interesting stories that had a major impact on the lives of people in the given region. A famous story documented within the newspaper concerned the changing roles of women during the post-war era. The story in this case was significant considering that women had begun redefining their identity, which was different from life during the World War. The newspaper analyzed the roles of women during the early 1930s and during the 1940s to determine the major difference associated with the roles (Guzman, 1962). The story was significant among the females. As it acted as a key motivator to redefining their identities thus leading to a situation where most women ventured in the male dominated world by undertaking careers that were considered for the men. Another major story documented within the newspaper was about the unveiling of the new anti-sub weapon. Considering that the story came at a time that the region was experiencing effects of World War II, the story helped in creating an assurance to the people.
