First of all, a similarity of these two pieces is that they both have a homophonic texture. This implies that two parts, in this case voice and accompaniment move together in harmony. In contrast nonetheless, the composition of these pieces is somewhat dissimilar. For instance, Think of Me assumes the ternary form (ABA pattern) that has particular parts that repeats like a chorus, whereas the Lord is my Shepherd has not clear form. Instead the composer has split the score into parts, analogous to the verse of the original biblical script. At time the lyrics are repeated within that piece to add stress and intensity. In The Lord is my Shepherd that starts in A flat major, it adjusts at 31 E minor that is a discrete key. This as well introduces a parallel amount of intensity and strain by adjusting to a minor key. Even if the key is an unconnected, it introduces a gloomy, murky tone that supplements the lyrics, which touch on dim, wicked, and obscurities. Nonetheless, distinct from Think of Me that remains in E flat major the remainder of the piece, The Lord is my Shepherd then adjusts by other keys comprising B flat major prior to moving to the initial key of A flat major. This is as a result of the tension and intensity of the piece is let out. Another alteration between these pieces is the accompaniment. This is so that the soloists are capable to listen to the tune and remain in melody. On the other hand, The Lord is my Shepherd lacks melody line incorporated in the accompaniment. Instead, the four-portion harmony developed by the singers creates the relative chords, which are played in the accompaniment in the manner of split chords. This is evident in bar 6. However, the influence of the creation of chords by the four-portion harmony adds purity to the piece.
