Founded in 1920, the NFL has grown to be one of the most popular sports in the United States. It was originally referred to as the American Professional Football Association (APFA). Initially, ten teams from four states participated in the league. Through the 1920s and the 1930, the league membership stabilized gradually. The league continued to expand, reaching its current 32 teams. As the league grew, talents were also developed. Many good players emerged as the sport grew in popularity. Some of the renowned talents in the NFL include Terrell Owens and Adam Jones. Quarterbacks are some of the key players in a football team. Tom Brady is the most successful quarterback in the NFL (Brown et al., 2018). He has played his entire career with the New England Patriots. Brady is the best quarterback in the NFL because he holds the record for most wins, most season wins, and most post season wins.

Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots after playing college football for the University of Michigan. He is considered the biggest steal in NFL draft history, particularly due to his late selection. In his seventeen seasons as a starter, Brady has quarterbacked the New England Patriots to play in nine Super Bowls (Connolly, 2019). He is one of the only two quarterbacks to win the Super Bowl in their first season as a starter. Kurt Warner is the first quarterback to WIN Super Bowl in his first season as a starter in the history of NFL. It is also important to realize that Brady holds the majority of post season quarterback records. He leads all the players in post season touch downs too.

Brady owns several records in the NFL. He owns the record for the highest number of regular season wins by a starting quarterback in the NFL. Brady has 207 regular season wins as a starting quarterback for the New England Patriots. He also owns the record for most passing yards in a regular season and playoffs. Brady has achieved 81,693 passing yards. The athlete has also demonstrated that he is the most talented quarterback by owning the record for most passing touch downs, including the post season. Brady has attained 590 passing touchdowns in the NFL. It is important to note that Brady owns the record for most touchdowns thrown to different receivers in the NFL. He has been able to throw 71 touchdowns to different players in his team, making him one of the most efficient athletes in the NFL. There are also various other significant records owned by Brady which include the highest division titles, playoff games started, playoff wins, playoff touchdown passes, playoff passing yards, Super Bowl appearances, Super Bowl wins, and Super Bowl passing yards. For instance, Brady has 16 division titles, has started 40 playoff games, has 30 playoff wins, has 30 playoff touchdown passes, has attained 11,179 playoff passing yards, has made 9 Super Bowl appearances, has 6 Super Bowl wins, as well as 2,838 Super Bowl passing yards (Pro-Football Reference). The number of records owned by Brady demonstrates that he is indeed the greatest quarterback of all time in the NFL.

Apart from the numerous records owned by Brady, there are also several other records that are within his reach. Brady is more likely to reach the records because he still has more than five years more to play in the NFL. Thus, he still has the potential to bag more records that will establish him the greatest quarterback in NFL history. For instance, Brady can own the record for the most passing touchdowns. Manning is the player who is currently holding the record for the most passing touchdowns. Manning finished his career with 539 passing touchdowns. With Brady currently having 517 touchdowns, it may take him a year to break the record owned by Manning. With five years more to play, Brady will definitely surpass the record set by his predecessor. Brady also has the potential to hold the record for the most Pro Bowls. He would have played the Pro Bowl last season but he was busy getting ready for Super Bowl LII. However, it is important to realize that Brady has joined some of the outstanding NFL players like Manning, Bruce Mathews, Tony Gonzalez, and Merlin Olsen, who have played 14 Pro Bowls each. With Brady having played 14 Pro Bowls, he only needs to play another Pro Bowl this year in order to break the record owned by the current record holders.

Brady is also capable of attaining the record for the most fourth-quarter comebacks. Having 44 fourth quarter comebacks already, Brady has a good chance at equaling or even exceeding Manning’s 45 fourth quarter comebacks. It is also important to note that Brady has the potential to own the record for the most games started in the NFL. Brady has already started 267 games and he is second to Favre, whose never-ending career allowed him to start in 298 NFL game in 20 seasons. This shows that Brady is a great athlete with the potential to own more NFL records in the United States. However, there are some records that Brady is not likely to win. The records include the most MVPs and most regular season passing yards. For instance, Manning, having won five MVPs, holds the record for the most MVPs. Brady is 1000 yards behind Manning in terms of the most regular season passing yards.

In conclusion, Brady is perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time in the NFL. He owns many records in the NFL, indicating that he is the most talented athlete in the league. With five more years to play, he is more likely to own more records. His continued success as a quarterback will definitely establish him as the greatest of all time.
