Question 1

President Donald Trump’s slogan of making America great again was mainly targeted towards appealing to a particular racial group; the white majorities. In particular the white majorities especially those who lived in the South reminisced the good old days when they dominated and had a major impact on the policies of the country. Therefore, the nostalgia was based on accurate hindsight because indeed the white majorities had dominated before and there was a feeling that they were losing this grip especially as the United States incessantly became welcoming to people from various racial and ethnic groups. For instance, Obama an African American had risen to become president and many whites had an apprehension of what was to come. Donald Trump’s slogan of making the country again was a sort of a rallying call to this target audience to reassert their dominance. Nevertheless, turning back the clock would not be good for all demographic groups because dominance of one group in all areas would mean oppression and suppression of the other racial groups. There would be inequality as a consequence of turning back the clock.

Question 2

Although President Donald Trump is no longer in office currently, but as it would have been expected, his immigration reforms would have focused on making it harder for migrants from developing countries as well as Muslim countries to move to the United States. Trump variously stated that immigrants from developing countries exerted an economic burden to the country and were also a major cause of lawlessness. Immigrants from Muslim countries were also accused of radicalization, terrorism and insecurity issues in the country. Insisting on building a border wall between the United States and Mexico is a clear manifestation of President Donald’s policy that aims to prevent immigrants from developing countries.
