Alice walker grew up in a humble family and in a community full of racism against the African Americans. In her Film ‘Beauty in Truths’, Alice clearly shares her inspiring journey from a young girl. The film explores Walker’s relationship with her mother, poverty, and participation in the Civil Rights Movement, which were the formative influences on her consciousness and became the inherent themes in her writing. Living through the violent racism and seismic social changes of mid-20th century America, Walker overcame adversity to achieve international recognition as one of the most influential and controversial writers of the 20th century. 

Walker is a champion for women revolution and speaking out on the hidden potentials women have. She speaks on how women have had a difficult life by being compared to men and black women had big burden since they were seen inferior making it difficult to show case their creativity. As a human right activist, Alice Walker through her story ‘ In Search of our Mothers Garden’ , her passion to fight for women is clearly evidenced by acknowledging the contributions women have in the society and also illustrates the power that women posses through her journey from a young poor girl.

Delving into her personal life, she realized her potentials of being a good story teller. Alice demonstrates her artist skills by writing books which inspired women in the society and she found solace in reading and writing poetry. As a celebrated writer, Walker has driven many people to express joy as well as anger and ruthless vilification over her art, personal views and global human rights advocacy but this did not stop her from fighting for the civil rights and equality of all Americans. 

In the Beauty in Truth, feminist Alice walker in the film forms a lead for women and girls, a public media campaign spearheaded by the Independent Television Service that harnesses the power of documentary film to showcase extraordinary women and girls who are changing the world. The initiative features groundbreaking women like Alice Walker, who refuse to submit to gender stereotypes or compromise her form of artistic expression. She thrives to sensitize women that they can be great people and their rights should not be undermined by any one. 

Writer and Activist Alice Walker surprised many when she became the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her seminal novel The Color Purple (1982), for which she won the National Book Award. (B. Feb. 9, 1944) Her hard work and commitment towards championing for women and the equality of all American people paid off and inspired many people not only women. She is a champion for women and that is seen in her entire career.
