It can be agreed that education is important to surviving this world, which matters to many people. Americans have long realized the role of education in their everyday life and have backed their realization by heavily investing in higher education. Some of the most prestigious schools and tertiary institutions are found in America. It is predicted that children can tackle future problems if they are presented with the educational opportunities to prepare for their imminent roles as employees, leaders, managers, scientists, parents, or volunteers (Pellegrino & Hilton, 2012). Therefore, it is crucial to note that higher education is important in today’s world, as discussed hereinafter.
The ancient Greeks and Romans introduced education to the world, pushing civilization to a stage where people needed education to survive. It has to be acknowledged that Greco Romans played a fundamental role in swaying the masses from the monothetic way of thought and introduce the scientific and philosophical way of thinking that develops intellect through the constant questioning of facts. The move at present is accredited to the kind of civilization people enjoy today. Civilization is progress; it is the evolution of society from archaic bondage to a free democratic world (Perry, 2019). The Greeks developed their thinking away from Near Eastern polytheistic belief which believed that everything came from the gods. It was the development of a humanistic perception that would formulate theories that would later morph into facts. The facts are what provided a foundation for materials used in education, however, provided room for doubt through which curiosity would develop the facts. The phenomenon was dominant in the fifth century B.C. leading up to the Greek’s political-social outlook. The outlook contributed to historic western civilization. Democracy was first constituted by the representation of equality and representation then the law came about as a conduit to the development of rationale arrogances originating from philosophical and scientific reasoning. The renaissance period further sparked Italians to seek the classical ways of their Roman ancestors in seeking knowledge and constant questioning. The period was the birth of the polymaths like Leonardo de Vinci, who played a critical role in civilization. Education has evolved through ancient times, and its journey will not stop. As such, today’s educational practices and policies will need changing to equip the users of education with not only the ability to retain it but also apply the skills and knowledge acquired from it – transferred cognitive psychology. The role of ancient Greco Romans in practicing critical thinking and developing a syllabus that was later advanced in the Renaissance period activated the need for education as a practice for problem solving. Therefore, higher education is the continuance of that practice and is important to today’s world.

Education is the way through which people acquire important specialized skills. From the discussions above, it is evident that education is the transfer of skills and knowledge for the survival of civilization. Higher education is the specialization of skills and knowledge focused on one subject that the pursuant is interested in. Specialized accreditation is what determines one’s role in society. For instance, an individual who studies medicine is planning to be a doctor, an individual with accreditation in architecture is going to become an architect. Their role in their institutions is what keeps the ball rolling. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States is tasked with preventing a disease pandemic by monitoring diseases globally and researching vaccines and cures for diseases. It would be quite difficult to do so without the skilled scientists and researchers. The evolution of universities as a beautiful thing has played a critical role in molding professionals who propel civilization (Willetts, 2019). If education translated to gaining the specialized skills people use in our careers, higher education is more important in the current world.
Higher education is not important because there are other forms of gaining knowledge without going through higher education. They are apprenticeship and self-educating. One could argue that higher education is not important. In the medieval era, when the Greco-Romans established education as a means of acquiring knowledge, learning institutions did not exist. Learning was through the way of apprenticeship. Apprenticeship is the act of learning through practice on the subject of wish and the teacher being the professional at work. Artists like Leonardo da Vinci sought apprenticeship for renowned and established artists. If an individual wished to become a doctor, then they had to work beside the doctor and grasp the practice. An apprenticeship can be associated with being the help and learning the skill. But there are limitations to this model of education. The source of education is one individual; what they know is what the student will know. Nothing new can easily come off the pairing. The number of apprentices that can be admitted by one master is a few, meaning that the waitlist could be long, or some youth will have no cause in life. Apprenticeship is considered a contemporary institution and still holds roots in present times. However, it is not the main institution for imparting knowledge. It is considered as a complement to higher education whilst being essential for the best experiences in higher learning (Coy, 1991). On its own, it does not play the effective role required for a fast pace moving world of today. Other forms through which education can be acquired apart from higher education is through self-educating. Self-educating is the act of getting learning material and educating oneself but not practical. Apprenticeship and self-education only compliment higher education; therefore, higher education is important in the world of today.
Higher education is more than an institution. Higher education is not only about the institution, but it is also a forum where like-minded people meet to scrutinize issues about the profession they wish to join. It is a place where unlimited resources are amassed to aid the journey of students to their specialized calling. The world of today requires that an individual presents their credentials and proof of experience from some form of apprenticeship before they are considered in a role that they could make a difference. As new problems and challenges continue to emerge from the different sectors in the world of today, it requires skilled and knowledgeable solutions from competent products of higher education. It is, therefore, worthy to conclude that higher education is important in today’s world because it offers the knowledge and skills to handle worldly challenges and issues. Like-minded people urge to pursue education, and abundant resources for the course can effectively tackle upcoming challenges making higher education important in today’s world.

A strong argument has to be backed by facts and not hearsay. At work, I would plan to use the same approach to presenting issues. Rather than voice opinions issues would be addressed with credible facts.
