There has been a mixed reaction by the Swedish people towards the issue of making English the official language in Sweden. Other supports the point while other strongly disagrees with that issue. Even though there are those who feel it is not a good idea and should not even be discussed, I myself believe it is a great idea. Over the few years that have passed, most of the Swedes speak in that language so fluently. That is a clear show that English is going to automatically replace the Swedish as the official language.
There are various reasons as to why I strongly believe that English should be made an official language in Sweden. Should Sweden make English the official language, therefore, the Swedish people will be able to communicate with people from around the world? The Swedish language is just common among the Sweden people. Therefore, they cannot communicate with the people in the outside world. Unlike English which is a language that is used almost in every part of this world. The Swedish individuals will get it very easy to communicate with their friends all over the world reducing the challenge that they always have of communication. The global will also get it very easy to communicate with them because they will now easily understand one another ( Irina, 2015).

The other reason as to why I support the motion that Sweden should make English the official language is because the will be an increased opportunity for jobs for those who speak English. At the current state, there are some limited opportunities for employment for those who speak English. Most of the companies and business centers fail to employ the English speakers because they fear language barrier. They find it difficult to communicate with the English speakers therefore not employing them. That is pretty dangerous for the nation because the higher the rate of unemployment the higher the rate of poverty. If English is made an official language then the citizen will have to learn the language thus employing the English speakers.
There is a problem of foreigners not being able to learn the English language in Sweden. That is because the common language that is taught in Sweden is the Swedish language. When the foreigners come into the country they come with the expectation that they will learn the English language. Only for them to realize that they cannot attain their dream of learning in English because it is being taught in very few institutions. Should they make English an official language then the foreigners will get an opportunity to learn the language since it will be taught in most of the institutions.
As it is well known that the English language is used with almost all the nations in the world than by making English an official language in Sweden it will the country more foreign friendly. There was even a debate if English should be made a worldwide language. If the world can go to such an extent then who are we not to change our official language? If the Swedish agree that English be made an official language we will receive very many foreigners in the country. The foreigners who feared to come into the nation because of language barrier will now be able to easily avail themselves. Therefore this will lead to the growth of our economy.
There will be an improved connection of international relations between Sweden and other states. The immigrants from English-speaking countries are greatly disadvantaged because they cannot communicate thus their voice cannot be heard. As a result, there is a poor relationship between the country and those countries. With those few proposals, I would like to say that Sweden should take a step of making English the official language.
