In essence, Fast Facts presents a myth of the model American Family which embodies the concept of an ideal family from various perspectives such as social, cultural, and economic. The tale tries to identify the structural changes in the global development as well as an international financial crisis that has proven to create an effect on people’s lives. Nonetheless, this discussion will limit itself to identifiable transformations as they manifest themselves in people’s lifestyles of a model family in the wake of various complications, diversity and the problem it ignores and interrelationships as well as the views of family members. In this light, families tend to reflect the state of every nation given the fact that they form a fundamental social institution. For a long time, American families have established a culture that is unique on its own which is mostly attributed to standards of, justice, progress, and freedom.

Primarily, a model American family has for a long time been understood to be in a nucleus form that consisted of the father, mother, as well as children. Consequently, each family member is expected to play their roles particularly the father being the breadwinner. While this remains to be the myth of most Americans, it continues to be a cliché given the fact that the traditional family has been in existence for a couple of decades now. The historical and present setting that defines a family maintained such perception; however, there has been a radical change in recent times. In essence, these portrayals were painted in various American literatures defining the American families as nothing but just a myth. Given the radical changes in recent times in regards to family models, responsibilities have changed, and even there has been the emergence of other issues such as heterosexual marriages in the contemporary society.

As a result of various changes in recent times, diverse Americans families have tried to feel nostalgic of the little that had to do with the 1950s family structures. This is because those 1950 families provided a more conducive environment or rather a family friendly social as well as the economic environment. This was believed to be an easier way of nurturing children. Although it would be unfair to say that the present families have diverted its structure, it is apparent that family ties have been weakened in recent times due to some clear challenges some of which are both politically instigated or even economically. These factors have distorted the interrelationships that often exist in a family setting; therefore, people have sorted for divorce in various occasions. This might be the reason why young people find it hard to get married in recent times.

In a nutshell, a family model has a clear history that many people have known it to be a family myth, particularly in the American society. Given the advancement of technology, change in political inclination and perspectives as well as economic issues, family value has taken another turn in recent times. Consequently, people have had different views of family model, therefore, accepting other models and type of marriages such as heterosexual marriages. What remains for the future generations is to have a clear definition what marriage means and reserve the order of American family model.
