SUBJECT: How Military Technology Can Empower a Country
My topic for project two is how technology can be utilized in the empowerment of the military of a country. The research question is how can technology empower the military of a country? Military technology is the assortment of weapons, structures, vehicles and machinery that are used specifically for the purpose of warfare. It also entails the knowledge and information necessary to produce the technology. The purpose of this report is to outline how military technology can empower a country.
In order to solve the research question, I will employ concept mapping methodology. This is a method that can be used to help an individual to describe their ideas about a subject matter in a pictorial form. By definition, it is a diagrammatic representation of meaningful relationships between concepts. It particularly comes in handy in the development of research related ideas.

The concept map will involve six phases. The first one will be the preparation phase. In this initial stage, identification of participants to be utilized in conducting the research will be done. This would probably be military, ex-military and army veterans. Other sources will be articles and testimonials written by military specialists. The schedule of the research process will also be developed in this phase. The generation, structuring and representation phases are likely to consume the most time hence they are allocated a timeline of three weeks (one week each phase). On the other hand, interpretation and utilization phases will probably take a week to complete, making it a total of a month to complete the study. The generation and structuring phase involves coming up with statements that address the research question and then sorting these statements by their relevance to the study. Representation phase will involve analyzing these statements (multidimensional scaling) by citing supporting arguments to come up with concepts or constructs. The interpretation phase is concerned with coming up with labels and interpretation of the concept map while the last phase, the utilization phase, will use the concept map to address the original focus of the study. On the outcome side, the map can be used as a basis for developing measures and displaying results
Possible results from the study are the realization that military technology is grouped into communication, transport, sensory, offensive and defensive technology. One of the main ways that improved military technology can empower a country are through the reduction in military expenditure by integration of robotics into the military and deterrence of enemies from declaring war on the country. Other significant ways include:
• Better communication e.g. DARPA’s SHARE program
• Better soldiers e.g. Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiments
• Prevent and Counterterrorist attacks
• Countering weapons of mass destruction
