The sampling approach that I consider is the research cluster sampling technique. The cluster sampling technique has a random nature of selecting clusters to generalize the targeted population (Taherdoost, 2018) easily . In this case, the clusters are the grade 7 to 12 pupils from various schools who will easily generalize the entire teenagers’ population.
Sampling Approach |
Advantages |
Disadvantages |
The rationale for Using or Not Using |
Systematic sampling | It ensures that the collected data highly represents the population. | It is relatively less random than simple random sampling. | It will not be used since it is impossible without generating a list of all members of the targeted population, which is tedious in this case. |
Simple random sampling | It ensures that the data is a good representation of the targeted population. | It is relatively tedious and time-consuming. | It will not be used since there is no sampling frame from which to do the random sample. |
Stratified random sampling. | It ensures that the data highly represents the layers within the targeted population (Nguyen et al., 2020) . | It is tedious and consumes lots of time. | It Will not be selected since the target population is not heterogeneous and does not contain various groups related to the study topic. |
Cluster sampling | It is relatively easy and convenient. | There is a possibility of the member units being different from each other, hence decreasing its effectiveness. | It will be used since t is useful when the population consists of units rather than mere individuals (Sharma, 2017) . The targeted teenagers will easily be reached within their various schools; hence, the sampling technique will use various schools to select the individual teenagers rather than the individual population. |

Data Collection
I will use semi-structured interviews in which the interviewer will not strictly follow a formalized list of questions. Instead, predetermined but more open-ended questions stipulated within paper questionnaires will allow the interviewee to discuss their experience regarding identity crisis and how to manage the crisis among the teenagers. Interviews are important since they help one better understand and explore research subjects’ opinions (Rosenthal, 2016) . Therefore, the teenagers' opinions regarding their identity crisis experience will be better understood through the interview approach.
