Stress is normal and is key to survival, but too much of it can be detrimental. Increase in stress levels is known to cause or exacerbate some health problems, including anxiety, depression, among other mental health problems. Severe cases lead to cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure, heart diseases, and strokes, which can be fatal in chronic cases. For these reasons, it is crucial to keep stress at manageable levels. Implementing effective coping mechanisms is the best way to do this. This paper includes a self-mitigation plan based on the results from the attached self-assessment.

Results from the provided self-assessment indicate lack of time allocated to more relaxing and stress-relieving activities such as exercising and reading books. Stress comes from pressure from various activities in life, such as school and work. Some of the simple techniques of dealing with stress that I can adapt include breathing exercises, meditation, reading leisure books, among others. However, these tactics effectiveness vary from one person to another (Landy & Conte, 2016). Hence, using the results from the self-assessment, it is clear that I should adopt some of these activities for a better life.

Increased stress levels affect not only personal, but also social life. This means poor relationships with friends, family, and in the work environment. One way of handling stress at work is by implementing effective time management strategies. Mastering this skill improves organization and consequently productivity even when under pressure. Additionally, doing this will help me include more relaxing activities in my schedule, such as exercising and reading leisure books. Therefore, early practice is crucial in stress management in the work environment.

In addition, setting goals and timelines for achieving them is another way of managing stress at work. Disappointments are the norm of the day at work and are the leading cause of work stress. Setting achievable goals is a coping mechanism in such situations. After doing this, it should be understood that not everyone achieves them, and it is okay. Apart from professional goals, setting personal targets go a long way towards helping manage disappointments that lead to stress at work ( Blumenthal et al., 2016) . The satisfaction that comes from achieving these goals has been proven to be effective in relieving stress.

Currently, diversity is one of the determining factors of the success of an organization. This is because diverse employees bring different ideas to the table as compared to one group of people. Additionally, the lack of diversity pressurizes minorities, thus leading to stressful work environments. For example, in my work environment, not having people who share the same culture as I do has proved to be frustrating because of the lack of people to compare notes with. For that reason, I always feel frustrated and rarely share ideas because people do not get the. This is a good example of how diversity contributes to stress levels.

There are various ways of managing stress levels in both personal work environments. In most cases, simple acts such as inequality or misuse of time could trigger a spike in stress levels. Therefore, developing coping mechanisms such as effective time management and improving diversity at work is crucial in tackling it. Stress is the main cause of ignored problems, such as stress and anxiety. Therefore, developing an effective management strategy is the best way to get around the issue of stress management.
